Curious of cost wise between NCA and Cheersport.

In general is it cheaper to fly into Atlanta or Dallas? (obviously starting location makes a difference, so Rays and Cheer Athletics shouldnt answer this... maybe someone who flys to both?)

Competition feels are about the same in the end?

How is dining? hotel fees? getting around? entertainment?

if you can exclude travel how do they compare?

id rather have 5 big events EVERYONE attends all year than the way it is now.

from MD/DC, airfare to Atlanta is generally cheap thanks to Airtran... and if need be, the distance is a doable drive (8-10 hours). a "cheaper" airfare to Dallas is usually around $250, gets well over $300 closer to the date and direct flights become scarce.

dining, hotel, shopping are comparable to each other and still cheaper than home, so that's a wash. I do like that majority of the teams at NCA are downtown in the same hotels, i've seen more of a sprawl in Atlanta (from downtown, airport, midtown, buckhead, etc).

i prefer the NCA shuttles versus MARTA, car rental or walking.

NCA arena > everything on God's green earth.

Dallas is worth the extra $100 for me.

Just from NJ it depends on when you book. Right now I see super cheap flights to dallas (about $200 which I am considering booking now). But when I looked 2 months before dallas in december 2010, it was close to $400. And the same can be said about cheersport. But since it is on a holiday weekend this year, I assume flights are more. Right now a flight to atlanta for that weekend is $350 (and that is looking at every airport within 100 miles from central jersey)

Im just excited Texas Lonestar is going to CheerSport this year. :)In 10 seasons this will be my familys 1st time ever going! :p

This past season was my first time competing there but my second time going. Even though is was one of the worst weekends for my team it was the best experience i could have got. I LOVED my hotel. & highly recommend or stay at the Omni of course. But my best advice to anyone flying in for cheersport is to get there a day in advanced. It was such a rushed trip and I was exhausted after we flew in friday then had practice that night at RAYS for like 2 hours then ended up competitng 3 times in one weekend while having to walk like 20 miles. But you will love it!

I think the Hotels in Atlanta can come into play. All rooms are given out by lottery. You can have a gym staying at 4 or more different hotels..

May I ask where you see these $200 flights to Dallas? I've been searching and see nothing like this unless you are quoting one-way fares. Mabe there is a secret from the NJ area that I am not aware of-Thanks!

I just wasnt about Cheersport...I think the venue is too big in some ways (walking to warmups/awards and such ) and too small in others (not every gym had an actual room/just driving to the competition...the traffic of a pretty major city I cant!) I have never been to NCA so I wouldnt know about that who ordeal but personally I'd rather just stay in Orlando :)

I personally like NCA alot better! it's great being near the GWCC and being able to get ready at home, but being in the Senior 4 division, awards get pretty late. and i have to go to school the next day! also, Cheersport's organization could be better. my mom couldn't go to my awards or my sister's because she has a super bad back and can't walk that far. IMO, NCA's score system is better as well. i've always emphasized "classic cheerleader" vs girls dancing on stage with everything but a pole. NCA seems to encourage clean routines and all around cheerleaders.
however, this is just the opinion of a 16 year old girl :)

Well, this definitely shows that two people can look at the same thing and see something completely different.

I don't care for cheersport. I don't like how they split the divisions into two. Group A and group B with different judging panels? I don't like that, so I don't go. NCA is a little more expensive but not much. Plus the competition for level 5 is still alot more prestigious than cheersport in my opinion.

I believe, IMO, that Cheersport is not hurting anyway...They had over 900 last year, and have had some of the Top programs in the country, maybe not everyone, but I feel they will be just fine. The customers who have been there the last couple of years know what they are in store for. As a judge at this competition for the last 5 years, they do great in the scoring system as well, again in my opinion.. Cheers, Ya'll!:fro:

Cheersport is obviously getting bigger and bigger, but IMO it can't touch NCA. Nothing can beat the atmosphere of NCA, and it's just a lot more prestigous. Winning Cheersport would be awesome, (Not like I would know..) but I'd take an NCA jacket over it any day. I'm on my phone and can't tag the person who said it above, but I hate the splitting divisions too!

IMO.. I like the splitting of the divisions because it would break my heart SO much more gettin 27th place. :(
But I can't compare the two.. This will be my first year going to NCA.

I think someone's preference may be swayed by which event they went to first and now that event is what they think of in terms of a large competition. I love Cheersport (it was my first biggy) and the arena is amazing at NCA. I can see that performing at Cheersport could be a let down vs. performing at NCA's arena.

At NCA the non-arena stages just didn't have a big competition feel about them and were less desirable to me because fans can't stand in front of the stage. Also, NCA's arena was the first place I experienced not being able to find a seat when loads of them were empty but "saved."

We're going to both this year. Yeah!
