I won't be applying for.. 5 years.(; I want to become a pediatric surgeon.
My brother is a senior. He really wanted to go to SMU, but didn't get in./:
But that's alright, because he got into Texas Tech!(:

I'm only a junior in hs but I deffinitely have my heart set on becoming a neonatal nurse. I've already taken 4 classes that involve the medical field that my school offers and I'm not really sure where to apply to for colleges, I kinda want to stay in Texas but my mom is moving up to Kansas to be with her fiancee when I graduate hs but I'm going to visit KU and K state and my mom said they have a really good cheerleading program which is a plus! So if any of you have a
reasonably priced college that has a really good nursing and possibly cheer program I'd be really appreciative! :)

KU is a fantastic school and I was really close to going there, but ended up getting accepted to a different pharmacy school. Yes I go to their rival Mizzou, but have only had great experiences with KU. They have a good nursing school and they got 5th at UCA nationals this year. Their cheer coach Cory is so nice and their program truly is a family. Plus their basketball team is amazing and there is nothing like a game at Allen Fieldhouse! I also have several friends in sororities there and have heard great things about their Greek system.

I know quite a few people at KSU also and they all like it, but their cheerleading is more game oriented. They take many more girls than KU because they have all girl and coed squads, but KU only has coed. It's all a matter of personal preference and what you are looking for.

Since you are considering schools in this area, I might as well throw in some info about Mizzou :) I absolutely love it here! Columbia is the perfect college town and I feel like I'm getting a really great education. One of my roommates is in nursing school here and she really likes it. It's super competitive (average GPA was 3.85 this year for accepted students, but my roommate is really involved on campus and got in with a 3.6), but I'm sure all nursing schools are this way! We have strong football and basketball programs so games are always fun. Cheer usually has about 50 girls, 16 of which make mat since they compete NCA small coed. If you are interested in super-senioring Capitol City is 30 minutes away and their small AG went to worlds on a full paid bid last year. Tons of people from Texas (especially the DFW area) come to mizzou and love it so don't worry about not having any southern friends here haha :) I hope this answers some of your questions and if you have any questions about schools in the Midwest feel free to PM me!

It's about 2 hours from Kansas City and about 3 from Lawrence. Both MU and KU are right off of interstate 70 so it's a really easy drive! I was worried about being too far from home (I'm about 2.5 hours away) because I'm really close with my family but it is not bad at all! Skype and texting keeps me close with them every day. Family is definitely something to think about, but I also think that going to a school at least an hour away from them is a good idea so you learn how to be independent. I feel so much more mature and able to handle things on my own now, but if I had stayed close to home I think I would still rely on my mom way too much hahaha

I'm a junior and had a meeting with a college advisor at school yesterday. They expected me to have a "top 5"....and I'm so lost. I know theres a lot of college-ers on here, so anyone have any storys, recomendations, good experiences, etc with their school? I'm from MA and want to stay on the east-ish coast

Within how many hours home do you want to be? Like would you be willing to be a 2 hour plane ride away from home? Or do you want to be within 6 hours driving distance? etc.

It's really hard to blindly recommend a school to anyone lol. Your scores, GPA, course rigor, extracurriculars and awards really decide where you should be looking :) Share a little info and I'm sure people will be able to lend a helping hand!

Have you had any acceptances yet? If so, where? Are UNC and Georgia Tech the main two that you want to go to? I'm the english equivalent of a high school junior so all the college stuff interests me because I apply next year :)

I've had one acceptance from Texas A&M (I was an automatic admit b/c of SAT scores). GT and UNC are not my top choices at this point, but I have to keep my options open :)

My top choice (by far) right now is Duke, followed by Vanderbilt. I hear from those 2 and the other remaining 4 schools (Georgetown, Emory, Carnegie Mellon and UVA) closer to the end of the month.

I was but in the end it wouldn't have happened for various reasons :( What are you looking into majoring?

We can only apply to 5 schools over here which sucks, but then again we have less schools in England. We don't actually find out if we are accepted until we get our exam results in August at the end of our senior year, we get conditional offers (if they like us) which say what results we have to get to get in :/ Our admissions system is a bit complicated.
