Watching the UCA high school nationals as I type this right now and I can't describe how annoying the commentators are. If I hear one more full up called a "twist up" or a "twist stunt" I might cry. And what's really annoying is that they are commenting on how awesome the tumbling is on Team A but clearly I just saw a girl faceplant. There's a difference between faceplanting and awesome to me personally. While I appreciate that they are very excited about the routines and that they comment for those watching who aren't as familiar with cheerleading, I find myself saying "thank you captain obvious" way to much hahaha. I agree with everyone else though , that guy in the video should definitely commentate for Worlds! :)

I don't think "twisting" is anywhere in cheerleading. Even in tumbling, it's spinning. Twisting has a connotation of two separate parts, which we all know to be bad.

Have you ever watched anything that is commentated on? They are supposed to tell you what you see. In every sport the commentator states what is happening.

they make me want to kill myself, during uca on tv "OH LOOK i love the back of those stingray uniforms, (as orange was walking on the floor), they have those hang loose signs!!" hahahaha. and "oh dang that's going to be another deduction!", what in the world are you talking about?!?!

Ha ha!! Even my 10 year old cp was incredibly annoyed with it. She kept yelling at the tv, correcting him everytime he called something wrong. She said they need to get Fierceboarders on there to do the commentary!!

I will step up and commentate!

Yes I have watched plenty of things that have had commentation, most of it being cheerleading an most of it by Jeff Webb and Amy Bender. My point was that while they are supposed to comment on everything that happens in the routine, because I understand what is going on I find myself laughing at the obviousness of what Jeff and Amy say. On the other hand if I had no idea what was going on then I would greatly appreciate it.

The worst is when the women says 'wow it amazes me how they can tumble so close to eachother. I used to be a gymnast and I find it amazing blah blah blah". She says that at least every other routine. We get it! The cheerleaders tumlbing amazes you!

Nothing but boys tumbling... "Get it girl! Get it girl!" Love him!

That is too funny...I don't think I could even handle him as a Worlds/Nationals commentator! hahaha

YES! :D I think you would be not only hilarious, but it would all make sense since you clearly know what you're talking about! I think some of the commentators (not going to name) are stuck in the early years of cheerleading..I wouldn't be surprised if they asked where the pom poms are?! Haha Times have definitely changed since then and they are continually changing in the all star cheer world.

But let's be serious - if a football commentator said "falling on the other guy" instead of "tackling" he would be strung up his toes.
I agree with @caa10 and I'm glad to see that it's on tv at all, but we have some amazing people in the cheer world who would gladly take the mic and give some relevant play-by-play...but it might be hard for them not to use the word "fierce" once ;)
