YES! :D I think you would be not only hilarious, but it would all make sense since you clearly know what you're talking about! I think some of the commentators (not going to name) are stuck in the early years of cheerleading..I wouldn't be surprised if they asked where the pom poms are?! Haha Times have definitely changed since then and they are continually changing in the all star cheer world.

I at least like to think I know enough that I could commentate. I think LOLSmiley would be a good co-anchor with me since we dont agree on anything except that onetrupairing is annoying.

I don't think "twisting" is anywhere in cheerleading. Even in tumbling, it's spinning. Twisting has a connotation of two separate parts, which we all know to be bad.
Interesting. I've been involved in cheerleading/gymnastics for quite some time and I've never heard the term "full spinning layout." However, I have heard "full twisting layout" on numerous occasions.

Commentators are suppose to give play by play and they are giving it in terms that people outside the cheer community can understand. Someone is going to understand "twisting stunt" more then "full up" or "ball up 360". Those who know the sport already know what everything is called but the ones who don't know are learning by calling them basic things that people can relate to and understand.

They might not be the best commentators ever but do basketball and football commentators not get annoying as well? Hello have you ever watched a game with Bob Knight as a commentator? ugh I want to rip my hair out. They talk about random crap that isn't even going on during the game.

And I am going to have to agree with socratesofcheer I have never heard it called a "full spinning layout" always a "twisting layout".

bob knight, richard vital, and john madden are annoying, but their all very experienced, respectable people in their sport who are legends for their accomplishments. others such as steven young who are legends know the game inside and out, keep up with the times and are trusted by the fans. You would need a Courtney or an Elaine to commentate if you want to compare it to bob knight.
I wouldn't want someone who was a champion gymnast talking about world champion cheerleading. that would be like lebron james commentating for a baseball game or golf. to say, that little kick thing, is the equivalent to calling a touchdown a "point scoring thing". twist is fine, its sort of like flick flake, different way to call a skill, like a juke or hurdle in football.
i liked justin carrier's recaps of nca, they were accurate, informative and perfect. he's cheered before and keeps up with the times and isnt all old school.

I understand what you're saying. But the man commentating on ESPN is Jeff Webb, the founder and CEO of Varsity Brands. A "legend" in cheerleading. I think that's why it's kind of upsetting.
