High School Conant Illinois Cheer Coach

Ok. So twitter feeds across Illinois are blowing up with #freedana. Dana is the Conant cheer coach and it appears from what I can gather on twitter she had either been suspended or fired. I am looking for more info.

I'd love to know too. I feel like there's a huge part of this missing and want to know what's up before taking sides.

I do know Conant decided to go Co-Ed this year.

Just saw this! From what I can tell there were coaches mad that she "took" athletes from other teams (wrestling for sure) and they got the admin on their side and she was fired for trying to go coed. But that's just from putting together a bunch of tweets.

Whatever happened is not my story to tell, but she was not fired.

I have gotten to know Dana on a professional level by working along side her in designing their GK Uniforms. Dana is an awesome and passionate person as well as a very genuine and skilled coach. I'm sure she will be back on the scene in no time.

I totally agree with you Rudags! I've judged with her and talked with her a few times and think she's great! Thank you for clearing up that she wasn't fired. I hope to see her coaching again soon! I love what she does with her teams each year!! It is a shame she has to deal with any of this after putting Conant on the cheer map!!!
