Does anyone else think that cheer moms are getting a little too out of hand?

Haha I could be wrong but I feel like cheer mom's in Texas are the absolute WORST! They cause and stir up more drama than the girls! It's gross! You would think so!! I just wondered what everyone else thought
Hey! Not all of us are crazy!!! :-pHaha I could be wrong but I feel like cheer mom's in Texas are the absolute WORST! They cause and stir up more drama than the girls! It's gross!
Thanks for saying this! I hate that people think that cheer parents are the worst when in reality all sports have parents just as "crazy" as cheer parents! It is in all sports. I use to coach the t-ball team for my now *19* year old son's team. I will never coach again because of the parents. The kids were great, the parents were aweful, insisting their kids have their old college number and certain positions. It's t-ball on a military base where they just give you shirts (free, but you have to return them), whatever size fits your kid... is the one they get... want a different number... go trade with another parent. LoL.
Through 4 kid we have been through baseball, football, soccer, ice hockey, lacrosse, tennis, cheer, etc. It's all the same with the parent situation. I have seen both sides, I have been the crazy parent once or twice myself when I felt one of my children were not being treated fairly.
What I have found is there are ways for coaches and owners to diffuse the parent drama. Some gyms take an active approach in ensuring there is no drama or diffusing it as soon as it happens, others have constant drama.
I have seen our gym go above and beyond to ensure all girls feel appreciated in whatever position they are in. This seems to help at least the flying situation. I mentioned this a while back on another post, but once a picture of my daughter flying was posted and instead of the coach saying "way to go" to my daughter, she posted to the base "way to base!" Little things mean a lot. I would say there is very little drama at our gym. I won't say there is not any, but if there is, it is usally addressed and diffused right way. I think sometimes drama happens when parents don't understand why certain decisions are made or certain rules. Addressing it is an educational opportunity for all.
