Hi,
I would love feedback on best way to navigate high school cheer selections when you have returners who were consistently a challenge for coaches. I have a few who always have something to say regardless if it’s correction on routine, stunts, jumps or even attire for practices and Game Day. It’s always a draining experience. I’m confident I’m not interested in selecting certain cheerleaders for this reason because they’re not coachable and aren’t able to improve because they don’t take feedback or make corrections. How do you handle this issue if it’s been an issue and how to word it when asked why they weren’t chosen at the next tryouts?

Provide clear expectations and consequences. An example: Any outbursts of complaining and disrespect will:
First earn them _ burpees
Second outburst will earn them _laps around the gym/track
Third outburst will take them off the sideline one Friday
After 2 Friday's of sitting out, the third time is removal from the team.

Side Note: There is no debating those who work with kids are seeing dramatic increases with kids struggling with concentration, memory, controlling emotions, outbursts, depression, etc. Many kids are addicted to the dopamine loop of non-stop, short bursts of entertainment and they are 100% struggling to control their behavior when they don't have that dopamine rush. It is taking a toll on educators and coaches, and newer parents, "no" this isn't normal to struggle with your kid's behavior like this.
