All-Star Documentary On World Cup Twinkles!

I loved everything about this.
I loved when they showed the dad that did his little girls hair for competitions.
I loved how much the coached loved the girls.
I loved those jersey moms!
I cant wait to watch these kiddos grow up together. Thankyou for capturing the true passion of our sport! WC is so so Classy (:

I thought it was great! The unfortunate thing is that no portrayal of the allstar world seems to satisfy people who are not in the industry. There's been so much unecessary, negative feedback on nj.com's site.

Regarding the negative feedback on nj.com... There are a few -ok, a large handful - of people who go to that site determined to tear apart everything The Star-Ledger does. We try to ignore the trolls, and hope you can do the same. Engaging them in any kind of discussion just stokes the egos and makes them more insulting and outrageous.
And as you already know, some people will not understand what you do. And others are inexplicably threatened by a world where cheerleaders no longer stand on the sidelines.
Just go on doing what you do best, and be proud of what you do.

The negative comments really are disappointing. I certainly didn't expect this documentary, no matter how wonderfully it turned out (and it was fantastic), to truly change the opinion of the mainstream or transcend the divide between those who understand cheerleading and those who don't.

However, to see grown adults go as far as to mock specific people (adults and children alike) on their physical appearance, weight, intelligence, etc is disheartening. I know you see this everywhere on every news site and it is not exclusive to the Twinkles story. Still, sad to see that people can never just have something nice to say or not say anything at all!

Just kidding, I'm not ashamed at all. This was absolutely incredible! Props to the whole team that made this possible. Both the Star Ledger and the Twinkles! Definitely what the sport needs. Now if we could only get this on tv! :D

We have watched it 4 times now. Plus their routines on YouTube. I love youth 5 teams because they seem to bring out everything in her. As I have stated on another thread previously my daughter wanted to start cheering the day she saw a 2009 Jamfest competition of CEA youth 5. That's why we are here today. My daughter has been struggling with her layout lately she does it great if someone stands there but if they tell her to throw it by herself she freaks and does a new skill called "laytuck" the first half is a layout then she scares herself and tucks out of it. It's pretty funny actually, but upsetting at the same time because she was doing it by herself 6 weeks ago! She started cheering 2 years and 2 months ago and only turned 7 this year so she has a long way to go but A LOT of time so there is no rush. However, seeing Julia and my daughter knowing that even better kids like Julia struggle too and the little part where the coach is talking about how it is all mental I think really opened her eyes the 2nd time we watched it. She started talking about how she knows she can do her layout and she wants to throw it again. She probably won't go in the gym tomorrow and throw it but just knowing it made her think about that enough to even say it made me smile and I just told her again how I know she can do it and don't give up.

Those little girls are amazing! If my daughter ever makes it to level 5 then I hope she gets a chance to be apart of something awesome like that! This was really well put together. Im happy my daughter picked all-star cheer over softball. She wasn't very good at ball anyways... So here we are!:)

That was perfection. So many parts of this made me tear up, and giggle, and smile, because the video depicted these situations that we all go through so well, and watching the twinkles get their fulls...wow. She's so lucky to have had that moment captured.

Lol well 2 things-

We live in San Antonio, TX- if we do have level 5s down here they are always Senior5s so she isn't real close to that age requirement. :/

Also, my daughter has fear now. She didn't have this when she was 5. She threw HEADsprings for fun at 5, now she is all like "what if I die?" So I don't imagine skills coming to quickly. Lol

I think the best part of this whole documentary was not only the behind the scenes, but throughout the WHOLE video I was thinking 'I can relate to this.' How much stress your coach puts on you since August for a competition that's 6 months away because it's the biggest of the year, the jitters you get on the Tumbling Strip in warmups, the feeling of totally bombing a routine the first day, then using that as your motivation to to hit a flawless routine day 2 to win, the questions you get asked all the time about cheer that make you roll your eyes. Everything out in here was right on point! I was even crying in a few points because of how relatable it is to me personally. Yes, we're still going to get haters, but this is truly the only documentary along with Cheer that deserves to be put on TV. It was phenomenal! So impressed!

As someone who's lived the Y5 lifestyle, the whole show took me back to a time in our cheer career that was magical and innocent. Not to mention WHO doesn't love the WC Twinks? I know I do!!

Off to watch it again!!!
