I definitely think the tumbling guidelines will encourage making level appropriate teams! As much as I hate that "showmanship" is on this it is part of the sport. Maybe I would like "fierceness" better!

Whereas the unified scoresheet has a very small range of (actual) possible scores, the universal scoresheet has an over abundance of possible scores in the "high" range (61!!! from 4.0-10.0).

I'm not sure that either extreme is the right approach. Call me Goldilocks, I guess.

Apparently they've decided they like the Worlds approach of free-for-all super subjective scoring. 4-10 for the high range doesn't solve any problems. Grr.

Wow. There was so much to look at but the deductions for stunt issues. Very interesting.

Meh.

Seems like the total amount of possible points so far is 150 (i did count, but could be wrong). Looks like teams will have to be really careful when deciding which stunts to put up- the deductions seem larger than usual.

I think I'm really just confused on WHY the difficulty ranges overlap...does technique play into which part of the range a team scores?

I don't know their reasoning, but the levels are not always a perfect measure of actual difficulty. There are L4 things that are much harder than some things that are only allowed at L5 for example. (ex: Front handspring front layout punch front layout is harder than a roundoff arabian) Perhaps this allows for that.

The high range is way too broad. What if a team throws team fulls with decent technique? Would they score a 4 or a 5 because the synchronization is off?

I definitely feel the same as most about the large high range and yes, teams better seriously consider what they put in the air. If it's not constantly hitting, I wouldn't risk it with those deduction. At the same time, I kind of like that your stunts need to be solid (and not moving and flailing all over the place) to score well. I know that was always the case but since I'm such a clean and perfect freak, I like the harsh deductions for that. I'm also good with the tumbling and jumps scoring too. I just don't get the reason behind that huge range and the overlapping of each point range.

I'm not sold. Seems very reminiscent of the World's scoresheet and we've all seen that that's clearly ineffective. It's too subjective and the deductions are astronomical. But it'll reward consistency, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The deductions for a fall are high and now the same as a safety violation. I like that. It means a safety issue is no different than dropping a stunt. For a long time a safety violation was worse than dropping 3 stunts.

I'm not sure if anyone would know for sure about this, but it says a majority of the team has to be doing two at-level standing tumbling passes, would jumps to back be included in this?
