Producers can cut and paste footage to create any kind of storyline they want. I remember on Dance Moms there was one scene where they showed Kendall crying and then cut to Holly rolling her eyes and shaking her head. However, you can hear Holly comfort her and see her hands around Kendall's shoulders but they didn't want to show that. It doesn't matter if you don't allow them to mess around with the footage, they're going to do it anyway. And I had no idea who "Debbie Butler" was until that show. And if she's such a great person why in the world would she allow anyone to portray her like they did? If my wife would have embarrassed my family and my children like that I wouldn't be mad at the producers.... I'd have an issue with her.
my exact thoughts.I mean if you took the time to actually read the whole thread John butler clearly stated before the show even began that the producers wouldn't stop filming until they got the drama they wanted and they couldn't back out due to contract....sometimes just reading should clear up any issues but you know...
Gotcha. I'm glad for her kids that she isn't the total basket case that she portrayed on the show. Since you seem to know the family so well... Maybe you can warn them that me and a few hundred thousand other people who don't know her and saw the show questioned her parenting abilities. Glad you were here to clear it all up for me. I was given the wrong image after watching 30 minutes of this lady. Now I have seen the light... Keep speaking the truth :)
no words. Okay. Just one. BRAVO! Amen. Well said. Okay, i lied. that was four, not one. Lol :)not sure if you're being rude or sarcastic or not.. and no, i don't know the family on a personal level. but i have read her dad's posts over the last few years on the boards and i have seen the children interact with the mobs surrounding them at competitions. they are humble and kind.
parenting is not an exact science. there is no right or wrong way to do it... you can only hope that at the end of the day you have produced some good kids who go on to become well functioning and well adjusted adults. you cannot judge others for the way they choose to parent. can you put a film crew in your house for a week and can i analyze and critique you?
i find it rude that you said she was an embarrassment to her family (especially when her own family has commented on this thread and were able to laugh at the ridiculous antics that the show asked her to do) but to each their own, since you are obviously perfect.
have a good night :)
AMEN !you are correct, and it is entirely possible. but when 4/4 of your children have those awesome qualities the odds are pretty high that they've been raised correctly and it wasn't just by chance.
Such A Awesome show . So happy the world got to see why i love debbie Butler .
I think that everything she said and did is 100 % true and not staged .
Can't say much, but given the opportunity to do it all over again, we wouldn't. All I can say is reality tv is anything but. Last I checked, life isn't scripted or staged.
i dont find anything she said wrong ! i think it showed amanda as the amazing kid she is . Her amazing sportsmanship and debbie always defending her daughter . yes the fighting was staged but it showed if anyone was to try and hurt her child she would in every way defend her childWat?!?!?
Agreed. Now with that said, if you actually SAY that dress looked hideous or that cats are ugly, well nobody can MAKE you say that. Come on people, it may be creative editing, but it isn't PhotoShop! As for reality tv- they can't show anything that isn't actually done/said. However, the context of it can be completely adjusted or the shot set up to get the reactions they want, as others have said. Me nodding in agreement that a dress looks hideous could be edited to me nodding in agreement that cats are ugly.
okay, i am in no way trying to be rude, but I think you clearly didn't read this whole thread. John stated that they tried to say no, but that they (the producers/lifetime) threatened to sue them (the butlers) if they didn't continue to go along with this because of contracts.Ok. So let's clear up all debate.
1. No I'm not perfect.
2. No I don't know if this is how this lady does act on a daily basis.
3. Yes, I feel she embarrassed her family by allowing this show to air.
4. Yes, I think she put "fame" before her family bc she allowed this show to air.
5. Yes, I would have said heck no if the producers would have asked me to curse like that or do anything else out side of my character on TV.
Not trying to be rude, little sarcastic... Maybe. I just find it hard to believe that a woman who y'all claim loves her kids so much would not walk out on this show before they finished. I really not questioning her parenting tactics as i am her character. However, I do apologize for being so blunt and a little rude.

all for it.Can this become a cat thread yet?
Suing for not completing the show is one thing. I don't think they can sue if the Butlers refused to add fake drama, unless there is a stipulation in the contract that says so. But based on what Mr. Butler has stated, surely they would never have agreed to that.okay, i am in no way trying to be rude, but I think you clearly didn't read this whole thread. I'm sorry, but I respectfully disagree.
