Curious to hear what any of the Judges on here think, for all star cheer: facials or just natural smiles?

I am curious, too! I wonder if region has a lot to do with it? The reason why I say this, is because I heard that cheer teams in the south do not sing along with the words and actually make fun of the midwest teams that do? (Disclaimer: this is not my opinion, but rather just something I heard from another parent and it could be totally false!)Curious to hear what any of the Judges on here think, for all star cheer: facials or just natural smiles?
oh god. i watched videos of myself competing from 2005. Apparently i was a big fan of kissy-face/bobblehead. Simultaneously. :oops:Just throwing this in for regional perspective:
According to cp, facials means. At least smiling, or mouthing the words or doing that weird surprised face, etc. Being "fun" is strongly encouraged We're in Texas.
But absolutely NONE of that fish face/puffed out cheeks/bobble head is allowed. and you CAN go overboard mouthing the words.
our kids are told to learn the routine and sing it....:) but boy could I get back at my kids for some stuff by posting a few facial pics I have...muah!!!My 9 year old has strong tumbling, but she is struggling with making facials. I think she is just too woried / self conscious about how she looks when she tries to do her facials. Please post good facial photos for me to share with her. Advice is also appreciated! Thanks! :)
Everything's bigger in Texas....especially the facials! ;)Just throwing this in for regional perspective:

That surprises me. Facials are a big part of all of the all star cheer competitions I have been to. At one competition the judge even wrote on the score sheet that we needed better facials & we lost points because of it.

In the south they prefer our girls to have a natural smile, meaning they should look like they're having a fabulous time (not Mona Lisa but not the joker either). The occasional mouthing the words or a playful point to the audience is fine. We got a negative comment about over the top facials last year when our top girl in our mini pyramid decided to wink in her cupie (really? That's over the top? Yikes).MNCheerMom said:I am curious, too! I wonder if region has a lot to do with it? I remember the days of a-e-I-o-u and kissy faces and bobble head tho and it IS distracting. It's like watching a team with a severe case of stress twitches!
