There was a guy on cheerforce nfinity that lived in the Tampa area that used to fly out like once a month if Im not mistaken...ok Im sorry thats nuts why would anyones parents let them fly out weekly to cheer..I mean I get that you want to cheer on a worlds contender team but still thats nutzo.
I know for some of these fly ins they were able to organize (relatively) cheap round trip flights every week. On small local airlines you can fly for like 80 bucks round trip, plus whatever discounts they may work out with you. Sure it's a lot but sometimes it can be worked out to be somewhat comparable to gas.
I believe that girl eventually stayed with a host familyI know a girl used to fly from Florida to NC to cheer on Senior Elite.
Several people fly to be on Cali teams. I'm pretty coed and elite used to only practice on the weekends to make things work for those people.
Matt Smith flies to cheer on Cheetahs. Not sure from where though.
Once you are at that level though, if your dream is to be a Shooting Star/SE/Cheer Athletics athlete, etc. and you have the skills, why stay somewhere close that doesn't fit your needs? Is it a big time and money commitment? Yes, but I'm sure those athletes wouldn't have traded the experience for anything in the world (especially if they got a worlds ring!). I highly doubt these athletes are the ones that have been level 5 kids for only 1-2 seasons......they have probably been a level 5 athlete for several seasons and tried the local/closer gyms that have world contention teams, but needed a change to reach their full potential.I think its a little absurd to fly somewhere just to cheer, I mean seriously there are tons of gyms closer to your house
One of the kids I heard of had thier tickets booked out for a year. That way it was relatively inexpensive to fly in and out weekly.
If you're a level 5 and you want to cheer for a certain gym you don't let distance get in your way. Isn't that part or what cheerleading teaches our cp's - work hard for what you want and don't let anything get in your way of achieving it?
I think it was JustinSOT ? Correct me if I'm wrong.I remember there being a thread somewhat along the lines of this...pretty sure there was a guy who drove 11 hours weekly to cheer for Spirit. IOC5 I think. Can't blame him. :)
That cheerleader moved to San Diego and is now a coach at Cheerforce. I must say we are very lucky to have him cus he is an amazing coach that the kids love and I enjoy watching him on Nfinity. :starwars:There was a guy on cheerforce nfinity that lived in the Tampa area that used to fly out like once a month if Im not mistaken...ok Im sorry thats nuts why would anyones parents let them fly out weekly to cheer..I mean I get that you want to cheer on a worlds contender team but still thats nutzo.
