I meant that if someone is rude to other parents I'm the gym and get away with it they are going to continue to act that way, where as if they are reprimanded they will be more likely to hold themselves together. Think of it the same as parents who let their kids be rude and have no manners versus parents who don't let their kids get away with talking bad and having a bad attitude.
As for the fact that it was the OWNER of the gym, that isn't TEACHING bad behavior, it's just setting a bad example. I mean, of its ok for the owner to behave badly then it would appear to the parents/cheerleaders that it is ok to behave badly and they would then copy that behavior. It's a psychological fact, you can look it up if you would like.

I agree with this completely. Owners set the tone of the gym.

I think the point here is that if a parent is already inclined to drink/is fond of drinking, and sees the owner drunk in public, that parent will feel that it is completely ok to also be drunk in public at a cheer function. However, if a parent is not so inclined, he or she won't indulge in that behavior regardless of the owner's actions. However, if the parent who likes to drink senses that being drunk in public is not acceptable within their gym's culture, they will save that behavior for when they are on their own time. That is the point that I believe she was trying to make - that the gym owner sets the tone for what behaviors or inclinations are acceptable within their gym family and at gym functions, and which ones are frowned upon or discouraged. I wholeheartedly agree, furthermore, that this is true, based on my own personal observations over the over a decade of being a parent in this sport, and I am sure that this sport is not unique in this phenomenon.
 
I have read this entire thread. I have to give my 2 cents. My 2 CPs cheered at Stingrays for 6 years. We were there in 07-08 when JP closed/sold GA and most kids came to Rays as did JP. Some GA parents were horrible and some were great and I'm sure they felt the same. One thing I learned was GA doesn't cultivate a program from youth to Sr. They get athletes from other programs. My guess is JP has run out of talent and the coming year doesn't look too promising. As for cheer scholarships, from the first year the Rays coaches wanted ALL the kids to get a scholarship.....an academic scholarship. We should all want that for our children.

And like the person above me said, this was THE OWNER, and he should know better. I mean of the owner acts like that, isn't that giving an ok to his parents and cheerleader to mouth off on twitter or be rude in person?

As an adult and parent I act on my own. No coach or gym owner sets the tone for how I act. I will say that for the majority of adults. If cheerleaders are acting poorly then shame on the parents.

I see you "cheer for G" does that mean you are going to sue everyone?

thats what i was saying....some of the athletes he listed have only been with that program for this year. i wouldn't really call that helping them achieve that spot.

Well that escalated quickly...

Umm no. I did cheer for Gianni (at GA and then i followed him to Trinity) but like I said in my first post I'm retired, as in I don't cheer anywhere because I'm a full time student and working. And contrary to what ever rumors you have heard, Trinity does not randomly hand out law suits to random people on Cheerleading message boards. But if we're still talking about parents following the behavior of their gym owners, you two trying to argue with me and call me out on social media makes it look like your trying to act like Jamie... Do y'all know him irl maybe? And @lovecheering for someone who says the live in Alabama, you sure seem to know a lot about GA (the state and the gym). What gym did you say your CP cheered at again?

And I am fine with you having your opinion! I know that not everyone will have the same thought process as me. What I didn't appreciate was the comment about me sueing people and referring to a situation where you would not know the whole story unless you were involved. I am fine with people having different opinions, but I'm not ok with rumors and slander.

as someone who was part of the all star world when GA was big and there was no Stingrays, it seems very evident to me why the GA/Stingray 'merge' only lasted 1 year. my opinion is that GA has never gone back to the way it was before it shut down and Jamie is bitter about it. "College placement" seems to be the only thing he can make a big deal about (I don't think an 18th (i think) place finish at worlds is something to highlight) so he 'brags' about college placement. I'm sure the news of Stingrays having a co-ed program again has really sent him into a tailspin, and quite honestly, Jamie, you're not helping yourself.
