JMO but the thing that made them an army (either program) was the rush of new posters whenever a contraversial post about their program was made, the pm's that went on behind the scenes ripping people for disagreeing with them, the posters that switched sides, the outing of ip's and real user names to people who were not admins, the aliases many people made because they knew they would be ripped if they shared their honest opinion, the posts that would disappear about some programs but equally ugly or horrible things about other programs would remain. It was crazy way back then. It is nowhere as bad as it used to be. Now you can pretty much ignore those threads and still learn something productive on the boards.

Slightly off topic but it amazes me now to read about the issues that back then was causing message board uproars but now are accepted by the majority as mainstream.

I guess it's the nature of the beast. Fans of their respective teams (especially in Lg Sr) are rather determined to defend their team against any (real or imagined) insult. For those of us who don't consider ourselves a part of an army, those 3 years that Stars were on top were brutal on the boards. Same could be said for this past year with CEA on top. There's just something about Lg Sr that brings out the worst in people. Funny though, how alike the two self-proclaimed armies are. More in common than many of you think. :p

A life without passion is a life not lived to the fullest. Try the army of your own choice sometime. Since you are a coach I assume, maybe build one yourself. What you consider to be "the worst in people" may be something you are missing. This is sport, it is about passion, commitment, endurance. It's about being a fan. I'd rather be hot or cold than luke warm.
