All-Star Gold Army!!!!

A life without passion is a life not lived to the fullest. Try the army of your own choice sometime. Since you are a coach I assume, maybe build one yourself. What you consider to be "the worst in people" may be something you are missing. This is sport, it is about passion, commitment, endurance. It's about being a fan. I'd rather be hot or cold than luke warm.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with fandom, or people being passionate about the teams they choose to follow. I have my own favorites that I am as equally passionate about. However, in regards to what I consider the worst in people, having someone disregard an opinion because it's coming from a team that competes against theirs is not something that is not completely kosher with me. What's more, the vitriol that has been expressed in the past, for just daring to want a different team to succeed has been astounding. Yes, I do believe that is the worst in people. I have personally been on the receiving end, and it's not pleasant. It hasn't been bad the last few seasons (mostly since prox died) but there have been moments.

Also, please don't think that because I don't state outright where my passion lies, I have none. I just am perhaps a bit more private than a public board allows. My friends know exactly how passionate I am about the teams I follow. The problem with a forum like this, is there's no way to determine the manner in which a post is meant. I would hate to hurt someone's feelings because of that. I also tend to not respond to hot button topics. My parents taught me not to say anything if I have nothing nice to say. I choose not to belong to, or form my own army. I dislike mob mentality, and enjoy conversations with many different points of view. Just because my favorite team isn't your favorite, doesn't mean we can't have an intelligent conversation. We may choose to agree, or agree to disagree during that conversation. Or, we may learn things that we hadn't realized earlier. Maybe it's my utopian hopefulness, or maybe I'm just deluded ;) As far as Lg Sr, there's no denying that every thread becomes heated. I have my own favorite in the division, but that doesn't mean I discount anyone else's.

I still stand by what I said though, both CEA fans and WC fans have more in common than they may realize ;)

Fair enough. I am not in favor of being vitriolic about opinions. However, to challange an opinion rationally from another pov in a reasonable manner is what a board should be able to promote. Here, it is tough, because quite frankely, you are never certain what person, or alias, your are talking with and who they really are in the real world.

Oh, and to add, I had a discussion with NJ Coach via pm. Totally agree with her opinions on this when explained with a little detail. As so often happens, I was not really understanding her statements in the spirit she meant them. One of the nicest, most rational and well thought out posters I have talked with, and I had never really interacted with her before. Sometimes, a bit of interaction leads to the understanding that you are basically on the same page.

You're making me blush ;)
