Is there a specific skill you are looking to improve your core strength for or do you just want an 8-pack?

Planks, hollow holds, hollow slide outs, v-ups, tuck-ups, leg lifts, crunch/sit-up variations, inverted sit-ups, windshield wipers, and superman lifts are all typical exercises that I incorp into tumbling and regular practices to improve on my athletes core strength. If you keep your core tight and engaged all day in pretty much everything that you do, it will help your posture and increase your core strength as well.

Debbie Love also has a "Core Baker's Dozen" list of exercises - Conditioning: Core Baker's Dozen - For the Love of Tumbling

If diet didn't matter I'd compete in my bodybuilding competitions year round!

The biggest obstacle I've found with diet is doing too much too soon. As in, cutting out all simple carbs, sugars, deep fried etc all at one time. It's not practical for our bodies to go from a fat/sodium/sugar rich diet to greens and chicken!

I'd say ease into the diet part. If you want something, have a small amount of it. Allow yourself "cheat" meals, and don't feel awful if you eat pizza. Just pick back up at the next meal and go from there.

The most effective core exercises I've used are: (you can search them on youtube for demos)
Wood Choppers
Bicycle crunch
Swiss ball Rollout
Spider crawl
3/4 sit up
Plank (i hate plank....but it works!)
V snaps
Leg raises
crunches (make sure to engage entire core, not just upper)

thanks so much guys!! well it looks like i will try not to eat as much junk food lol!! but i will definitely have to try these all out!!!

One thing to remember that as a female, you'll need about 15% body fat or less (sometimes 12%) to see your abs if that is your goal (rather than just strong solid abs with a little fat layer over them). That takes a lot of dedication and effort, easier to do when you're young/teenager and much harder as you get closer to adult hood. This also means less body fat overall on your body, leading to things like smaller boobs (not always a bad thing). If you're not looking for a 6 pack and just strong abs instead, then you've already got some good exercises to do. I suggest planks and hollow body holds
