Sometimes to break up practices we do jump contests. We do it by splitting the team but it would actually be easier team vs. team. To explain it, I will do it team vs. team style. Basically, you put the two teams into two straight lines parallel to each other. I would use the lines on the mat. Next, my main coach sits at the front of the line and shouts out a jump to the two first people. The first two people (one from each line/team) will jump and the better jumper (focusing on technique, not only height) gets to go back into the end of their teams line. Eventually, you have one person left and they have the best jumps. You can go through this as many times as you want with toe touch, right and left hurdler, pikes, etc. My coach normally has the "losers" go to the other end of the floor and jump everytime a new pair jumps to try and fix technique. If my side coach notices a "loser" make a correction in their jumps, they get to go back in line. Fun way to compete against teams while also fixing technique! I hope this made sense!
