Small senior based on numbers.

What do you define as "hardest" ? To get to finals? To win? To medal?

I definetly agree! Its so hard for small gyms to be able to just come in and compete with Senior Elite, World Cup, and f5 and all! It seems that the bigger teams have better political ties and its harder for newer and smaller teams to even have a chance!
Have to disagree with your statement. I think it is clear that in the Sr large all girl this year, the top 3 teams were clearly the top 3. POLITICS had nothing to do with that.

Note I didn't say that they placed that way because of politics. I was 100 percent happy with the top 3 teams! I routed for every single one of them(: I'm just saying its harder for small gyms to place at worlds in that division. Political ties and the big name just make it easier for a team to get to worlds. (and by political ties I guess I mean who you know in the industry) BTW- I still think its gonna be them in the top 3 next year too. Just don't know who will get first, cause I know all of them want it bad!

I'm going to say IO5, only because the talent at that level is simply ridiculous. And I know there were like 40+ teams this year at Worlds. Plus, with the international gyms getting better and better each year, I suspect this group will only grow in talent and competition.
Agree with you on this, and also want to add that there's the massive "unknown" factor with the international international teams. You're not seeing them at any comps throughout the season nor hearing rumours about them. They're pretty much off the radar until they hit the mat. The next five years is going to see some crazy growth in both participation and talent in this division.

I definitely vote for large senior. Large Senior is the hardest division for a new team to place top 3. And that is PROVEN by my facts below.

There have only been 6 teams in the history of worlds that have been in the top 3 spots. WC, F5, CA, American, Charlotte, CEA. There has never been a team that is NEW to the division that has placed in the top 3 spots.. ever.

If you look at other divisions, there is a bigger mix of how many teams place in the top 3.
Small Senior - 11 different teams in top 3.
Large Coed - 13 teams (unlimited, and semi limited)
Large Limited - 9 teams
Small limited - 6 teams in 3 years
ioc5 - 9 teams
iag5 - 8 teams

Now look at teams in the division for the first time and how they placed, here are teams that placed in the top 3 their first year in a division
Small Senior - CA Jags, CA Panthers, SOT, Basics (idk if it was there first year, but i had never heard of them before they placed), CEA, woodlands
Large coed - Stingrays
Semi - ace, gt
large limited - cheer force, stingrays (idk when smoke started), ace,
small limited - kentucky, cali, rockstar
international coed - star athletics, extreme cheer, storm cheer, cheer athletics, spirit of texas, top gun
international all girl - gymtyme, rockstar

That is a little bit ridiculous. The top 3/4 teams in large senior get their bids every year because they are not only the best in the division, but best in the world. The top 3/4 large senior teams usually score higher than the majority of small senior, small limited, and large limited teams.

Orange won their first year in small senior. Cea placed top 10 in 07-08 (1st year?) and woodlands placed 15th in 07-08 in small senior.

I had no idea that cea and woodlands had small senior teams before then. so you can scratch those. And i didn't know that orange was large before they were small senior.
Even still, small senior had 4 top 3 finishers make the podium in their first year.

Ha I think yall are confused. Cause what Im saying is that those teams deserved to win! They are the best and i completely agree.

So has Large Senior: Cheer Athletics, Maryland Twisters, American, Charlotte.

I'm still not convinced that the number of different medalists over the years necessarily determines how "hard" a division is. You could just as easily argue that fewer different medalists means that there are fewer strong teams in the division. Regardless, I don't think "medal variety" is a good indicator.

I was referring to a teams first time in the division, not first time at the championships.

CA, MT, and American were all large senior prior to the creation of worlds, so I didn't consider them entering a new division. And i just assumed Charlotte was Large senior. I have no idea what they were before the year they got silver.

IMO...the hardest division is the one you are in....we thought 66 teams at Worlds was crazy....some think the number is what counts...some think the past success rate....some think it is actual talent in the division....the responses vary....that is what the board is all about...I enjoy reading the conviction and certainty of EVERY answer....:)
