I know that this is an old thread, but what can I use in place of ankle weightsFlexibility is only one half of the equation. As well as stretching, you need to work the strength of your legs to that you can bring your leg up and in front you into your heel stretch. Doing kicks with ankle weights or resistance bands are a great way to strengthen your legs and get an explosive lift into your heel stretch.
Just remember to keep your chest up, and to not sacrifice form for function!
