All-Star Help! Wardrobe Malfunction At Comp!

After spending the day looking up products, reading your posts, and talking with cheer moms, I ordered a bra that is made to configure and not show under most any crazy cheer top. The bra part is black and the uniform material around the elastic is a darker color so when/if it shows, it shouldn't be obvious to the eye. Way better than her boob showing again in pics. I had a mutual friend of the owner of the bra company (it's a cheer company) ask them to rush it.

I ordered the butt glue and am off to pick up a few different brands of fashion and wig tape tomorrow.

Varsity is closed for the holiday. I'll push the issue of added length (again) when they are open next week. (I asked our staff member in charge of uniforms in Oct when the uniform needed to be replaced and again yesterday for the added length and was told they Varsity won't do it.) The next comp (after the one this next week) is mid January. Fingers crossed.

The uniform she is currently in is plenty snug so I'm hoping the tape/glue and bra will do the trick for now.

I haven't gone off on the gym yet because the owner isn't on site and I don't quite know where the resistance is coming from. If it's the onsite person not wanting to push the owner or if it is the owner saying too bad. I will contact my daughter's coach tomorrow (luckily she is female) and send a handful of the pictures so she will hopefully advocate for my daughter with the owner. It's not a situation where I can sit down with the owner easily.

I haven't heard back from the action shots company but will contact them again tomorrow. I hadn't even gotten as far as thinking about contacting the other gym. My husband was so mad today, saying these kids don't realize they could get into trouble for sexually harassing our daughter, since it happened at school, if we wanted to make a big deal about it with the administration. To them it's funny and they will move on to the next thing but to her she will remember this when she is my age.

I can't thank all of you enough for all of your kind words, support, suggestions, and strength. I'm grateful to have a community of people that "get it", all of it, and can help us through this. I'm proud to be a cheer mama right now because of all of you. ♥️ I'll keep you all updated.

:(

Didn't someone mention there is glue that gymnasts use for their leotards to stay in place? Maybe a quick fix.

Ahh, the place I had originally planned to post this.

I don't understand uniform companies that don't add length. We're not all the same size. For our new uni's, I had to go up a skirt size cos the size that fit was too short and they won't add length. So, my skirt is now a respectable length, but it may or may not fall off with my first tumbling pass.

OP, I'm glad you're starting to get somewhere with this issue. Good luck with the rest

@Mama Of 3 CP's - I am so sorry for your CP and this ridiculous situation she has been in. I have to say you are handling things very well so props to you!

I would hesitate to use tape or glue on a uniform that is riding up simply because it doesn't fit. You don't want her skin getting pulled while she is tumbling, stunting, and dancing.

I would consider a bit of glue or tape for the bra, if needed, to keep it in place and not ride up with the uniform.

Ahh Tuff Skin. You may want to watch with this stuff because I had a pretty bad reaction to it that resulted in days of skin irritation. It was odd considering I had never reacted to an adhesive before.

Oh this makes me sick to my stomach. I'm so so sorry. I don't have any advice but I wish all gym owners would listen when people are saying uniforms need to be able to support a actual sports bra. I hope the gym owners on this website read this unfortunate story and learn something. A uniform that looks cool but is not functional has no place in the sport of cheerleading.
What's sad is that this isn't the first time I've seen an underboob malfunction. IDK why functionality is not made more of a priority in uniforms.

OP I'm so sorry for your daughter. And those photos likely constitute child porn. If the photographer doesn't take them down, I say you press charges.

Now I'm thinking of Nipplegate. I throw together uniforms for fun, and when googling ideas, it seems that google loves to auto complete my search query 'cheerleading uniform' with the suggestion 'cheerleading uniform malfunction'. Especially when I'm looking at high school cheer uniforms.

The all-star world has really been frustrating me lately. Year after year we see the same bad things. Why don't more coaches/gym owners take heed from this and pick more functional uniforms? Maybe things won't change until an underage cheerleader's underboob becomes a national news story. But even if we do see change, it'll most likely be superficial. Like the push for "full tops". Give me a freaking break.
