Ok basically there is a smaller gym called Gym A and a bigger Gym B. I used to cheer at Gym A, but then had a season off due to injury. I then started some privates at Gym B because Ive always had my eye on that gym. Gym B's tryouts are based primarily off tumbling. At the moment my tumbling is a mix of level 3/4 and my basing is level 4. At Gym A I know i will be put in level 4. Gym B based on tumbling I would be lucky to make a level 3... so what should I do? I need a level that will challenge me so I wont get bored therefore Gym A, but Gym B motivates me and I lvoe the atmosphere but I'm not sure if i want to be in level 3 again after 2 years being atlevel 3, so yeah just a bit confused. what are your thoughts?

Is this a half year team or are you talking next spring? After an injury (especially one bad enough to cause a missed season) it's best to start out where you left off, if not a level lower. I've seen a level 5 athlete with a back injury drop down to 3 and then work her way back. I would go with the gym that motivated you more and puts together strong teams over one your not that into but places you higher.

I'm in Australia, so tryouts are just beginning for the new season :) Okay yeah I see what you mean. I think I may do that

You want to be on a team that is going to be strong no matter what the level is! Example: You could be a "level 5 athlete" on a "level 5" team who throws squad backhandsprings but does that mean the team is going to be successful in level 5? No. It'd be better to be on a level 2 team that is excelling, as the "level 5" status to tell all your friends would be in name only. Level 2 NCA jacket > telling your friends you are on a level 5 team.
Heck, I'd rather be on Stingrays level 1 than a level 4 team that is busting their tucks all over the mat and dropping ground up arabesques.

If you say that you'd be lucky to make a level 3 at the larger gym, would that not be motivation to work up to the level 4 expectations at that gym.... Rather than just being placed on a level 4 because there is less competition/expectations?

Thank you so much! I absolutely love the way you have explained this. I think doing level 3 at the larger gym would definately motivate me to work extra hard tumbling wise and thinking about it more I would rather be on a stronger team than just on a team for the level.
