Just an FYI, this is not the highest quality video. Generally I don't post video but after they won level 3 grand champs at Jam Live Chicago, the Jam Brands put their routine video online. So I guess people can see it if they really want to. Quite frankly, Jam Live was not their best performance so I would like people to remember this one and not that one which is the biggest reason I am posting UCA video. We've really been pushing our stunts and pyramid over the past month or so, so I can't wait to see what we can accomplish in the second half of the season. Anywho, the routine is decently clean- there are a couple of transitions that look a little rushed and we really need to work on our combo passes for running tumbling. Not too shabby for early in the year though.

Anywho, without going off on a rant- they had a very tough year last year. Lots of parent and athlete drama, so they are a small team but they're great to coach and they remind me on a daily basis of why I love coaching and I know TwistersPride feels the same.

so clean! i'd take a fierce, solid team of 9/10 over a messy team of 20 any day! kudos to you and these girls! they're awesome :)

If I am hired as a judge, then I would be watching for whatever was on the scoresheet. Judges personal opinions on what SHOULD be important don't really matter within the context of judging a routine at a competition. They should only be judging according to the scoresheet/rubric that they are given.

So completely true. Allowing your personal opinions to take priority over the set grid/rubric is a fast way to get booted off an EP's list of judges.

am I crazy for hoping a judge is passionate about all elements?

Nope. You're right on. That's the way it's supposed to be!

Tumbling and stunting technique. It makes me cringe to see a girl do a sloppy, janky full or double down. Also, this is going to sound weird but the dance as well. Thats where the cheerleaders really get to be performers, and show personality/creativity. If a team has a bad dance at the end of the routine, they're a let down, no matter how good the rest of the routine is. Im a sucker for a good dance

If I was judging I would want Team A to win (who did 7 all the way around doubles) over Team B (who has way more doubles but no technique/a lot of incomplete rotations). I would also appreciate Team A more (does full up to dangle/dead leg) than Team B (one and a half up to stretch but has 3 bobbles). Definitely all about the cleanliness. Also hate pyramids that wanna have 50 level 5 elements going on at the same, and you can only see 2 of them...

I love seeing more "talented" teams losing to teams with less skill but know how to hit a routine.

They look really great! Very solid and clean!
Also cant help but notice how cute that little baby was on the front row! hehe

I don't know about you... but I look at EVERYTHING. Technique, cleanliness and creativity in stunts, tumbling, jumps, dance, etc. Shouldn't every judge?

I would judge based on the score sheet but one of the things in a routine that bothers me most is flyers with a lack of flexibility. I hate seeing flyers with bent legs in heel stretches. Yuck!

I would look at formations, I love symetrical formations, I would also look at orginiality in choreography, I think everything should be intricate not just a clean cookie-cutter routine.

Thanks! The baby in the front has two sisters on teams, and another one that will be in the next year or two. I am going to be coaching kids from that family forever!

Tumbling touch downs, if you can't land it, it shouldn't be in the routine. And I'm not talking like hands down on a standing tuck, I'm talking about face plants. Tumbling touch downs just drive me CRAZY!
