All-Star Injured Athletes

I have been out for a month now due to an injury and should hopefully be back with my team in January, I turned up to every practice and because of this still feel part of the team, also my coach was able to ask my opinion on how our routine looked and thought it was great to hear that I thought it looked amazing. Whilst sat watching I would still do the routine with my arms so that I wouldn't forget it. Last year I couldn't compete because of financial reasons but was at more practices than some of the girls on the team so was able to still be part of team by filling their spots whilst they weren't there. This year our team is down to 12 girls whereas last season it was at 22 and most of the girls that arent competing now want to come back for Jamfest in June but they don't bother to turn up for cheer and haven't been since the start of the season with no reason as to why they couldn't come, in my opinion they aren't/never were really part of the team as they don't have any dedication to the team and have quite negative opinions of our team this year. IMO if someone is really part of the team then they will be at practice no matter what (with a few understandable exceptions) :)

The feedback that has been posted has pertained to athletes that are injured and will recover in time to still compete in the 2011 - 2012 season. What about the athlete that is injured that before the competition season starts and will not recovery in time to compete during the 2011 -2012 season? It's is not about getting a jacket or medal, it is about still wanting to be with the team at competitions, even though they are not sitting and watching every practice. Should they be allowed?

The injured athlete should WANT to be there! If they do not want to be there, in my opinion, they were never part of the team to begin with. So wether they are there or not full time, the desire and drive is what makes this person a part of the team.

We had an injury this season and the persons mother is not really allowing her to come, but my girls consider her part of the team and she wants to be there and keeps in touch, showed up at our holiday party, comes when she is "allowed"! We consider her a part of the team as coaches b/c we miss her spirit and dedication.

On the flip side, a different program had an injury.. the girl never came and then the next season all-star team jumped. I think this is her 4th or 5th team in 4-5 years!! That person was never part of the TEAM!

Yeah my mom wouldnt let me go when i sprained my ankle and was out for a month during summer. she wouldnt let me go until 2 weeks after i hurt and it was the worst 2 weeks. I dont get why she didnt let me go though it was stupid
