I ust read through the discussion about ,,European Champions'' and actually everything said here is what i have been thinking about for a while. There is one huge competition here in Germany called the Elite Cheerleading Championship which happens to have a lot of european competitors , there have also been american teams competing some years ago. Some Teams who won their divison at this competition also tend to say they are ,,European Champions'' which has been criticized a lot.
I really don't (!!!) want to take anything away from a winning-title at a huge international/european championship, its a great accomplishment and something to be proud of, but for me ,coming from a Figure Skating Background, a European Champion can only be detected through ONE official European Championship.
Same with worlds. I do get that the USASF Worlds are more of a ''Gym '' competition but i truly hate the fact that there are three different kinds of ''Worlds'' and therefore also 3 World Champions in almost every division . I really hope that one day there will only be one Worldchampionship and one European Championship , but that's probably going to take some more years -.-

Agree! I feel ICU is the "true" world championship but it's more prestige to place good at USASF/IASF...

yeah but then again there's the ICF World Championship in Honkong where a lot of teams compete that don't go to the ICU Worlds like Japan for example. Here in germany we got the same problem we have two different Nationals each year and two Teams in each Division going to different Worlds. So confusing!

Yeah, but who competes at IFC except for Japan? I don't know any! Haha

I've been to the last IFC Worlds in Bremen, there were Teams from Austria,Sweden,Norway,Japan,GErmany and Indonesia but no idea which Countries left the IFC and went to compete at ICU

Yup, but that was 2009. Sweden's first ICU worlds was 2010 (but no team made it there because of the ash cloud). Norway also do ICU and I believe Austria too?

Ah okay ,wow i'm really wondering who's actually going to compete in Hongkong this year, i'm gonna have to look that up i guess! So does Sweden only have one Cheerleading Federation?

Yeah me too! Do you know when it is?

Yes, only one - SFC, the Swedish Cheerleading Federation. I know there's one team that goes against our federation and does not want to be a part of it. They can only compete at open competitions internationally because all competitions in Sweden requires you to be a member of SCF.

Its November 25th-26th , i found the website but there is no information about the participating teams yet, which i find very weird actually :confused:
So at least Sweden agrees on having only one Federation,i hope Germany is going to figure that out soon aswell-.-

Good luck on that ;) Lol no, I do hope you get only one too! So difficult to have two I think, in such a small cheerleading country.

Your so lucky. We have no federations & I can't even count how many competition companies we have in the UK - UKCA, BCA, ICC, IDTA, Future Cheer, ScotCheer, ACDC, Jamfest, CheerSport Wales... & I've probably missed loads too!

I know the UK is sending an all girl stunt group to IFC, whilst still preparing to send a full cheer team to ICU in April. I've warned my friend on there about the problems regarding disqualification but the organisation behind it (UKCA) thinks everything will be fine & they'll be allowed to compete!!...

I REALLY do hope ECU/ICU become the recognised Europeans/Worlds. I think they have to most logical & safe set of rules and requirements for competition (tumbling & spotters required etc). Honestly, I don't think Europe will be the hard region to convert. I think it will be the Asian regions who LOVE building crazy pyramids that will stay with IFC!

In Australia anyone who just turns up to an open gym session has to present their Australian All Star Cheer Fed card or pay for insurance before we let them stunt- even at try outs. It's only $10 for a year (March through to Feb) and provides catastrophic insurance for each athlete (at least I think so) as well as helping with costs of rehab and out-of-pocket expenses if you can't work.

I am not totally sure about this. I pay a membership to my gym each year, so I THINK we organise our own insurance that covers all our teams at competitions, training etc. Each competition usually requires a liability form to be signed per competitor so maybe that ensures everyone has their own insurance. I honestly can't say 100% as I don't sort it out!

our gym has to get their own insurance through an insurance company... (such as perkins and slade i believe is the one we use). It is the coaches responsibility to have insurance and many competitions require you to bring your certificate with you. but more recently i have noticed competitions haven't been asking for certificates and have had the parents sign waiver forms like Leigh said.
