High School Is This Against The Rules?

So this year I tried out for varsity basketball cheer and made the team. I have two piercings (nose & tragus) that I usually put the clear, flexible spacers in during practice so the piercing holes don't close up. My high school coach says it's against the rules and that we aren't able to do that during competitions and games. I also do allstar cheer and I know it's not against the rules to keep the spacers in. I checked the high school rules and all it says is "no jewelry." Can someone help me figure out if it's illegal to keep the spacers in? Thanks.

I was always told by safety judges that it is not allowed, not even spacers. I instruct my girls to remove them all.

It's illegal! It might be clear but it is still there.

Spacers are illegal for all star too, you just haven't gotten caught yet.
