I was (until Thursday) an Assistant Cheer Coach at the local High School, I'm a 50 y/o man and the Head Coach is a woman (she's also my wife).  I was asked by the Athletic Director to not come to practices anymore.  The reason he gave was that the girls do not feel comfortable with me around, but I believe it was a couple of the mom's didn't think a man had a place in girls cheerleading.  There was an incident a couple weeks ago where we were having a meeting after a game and one of the girls started changing with me in the room so I left.  I didn't think it was a big deal because they all were wearing spankys and they would sometimes practice in just spankys.  I have been around since August so I don't believe they didn't feel comfortable around me.  No one ever approached me or my wife.  No complaints until now.  I should mention that it was an unofficial, unpaid position.  I'm really bummed, I was enjoying it so much.  I have coached girls softball for 5 years along with boys football  so I'm not new to coaching. Thanks for letting me vent!!
