Since so many gyms now have multiple locations (T&S, ACE, Cali, CEA, etc.) I'm just wondering how yall feel about the oval consistency of the teams across all of the locations.

Do all of these gym's locations produce equal level talent, routines, attitude/mentality of athletes, and overall team impression? Or do the satellite locations fall short of what has become expected from the original gym?

I'll be the first to bite.

I feel that cali is the most consistant from all gyms.

Then ill say top gun.

I'd have to say that cheer extreme is the weakest when it comes to this to consistency and alot I'd the attn is focused on the medaled world's teams. again, IT'S MY OPINION!

Cali is most definitely the most consistent.
I was at a 'satellite' gym within one of those programs, and we were actually very good in the beginning, but then the two head coaches left us to focus more on the home gym (Im assuming), and we were left with 7 teams and 2 coaches. So they hired some younger adults and it sorta went downhill from there.
ACE is also pretty consistent from what I've seen!

Cali and Top Gun. Honestly half the time I forget TG has two locations. Also from what I've seen, Rays Johns Creek location is relatively similar to the Marietta location.

ETA I'd also agree that CEA is inconsistent. Kville and Raleigh tend to be similar in terms of level 5 and Charlotte seems to be as well but the other locations just are not up to par. Overall I don't see them being hugely consistent amongst lower levels whatsoever.

i do agree that gyms should be consistent in coaching techniques, etc. but i think we're forgetting how hard that would really be. I think this is especially the case if a gym is taking over a gym that is going out of business. In those cases, 9 times out of 10 they will have majority of the same athletes, and a lot of the coaches are offered a position in the new gym. So when this happens, basically the ONLY thing that changes is the name. Also if CEA Kernersville has CSP as head coach, it will obviously be different in the other gyms where she is not the head coach (which is understandable).

Sure makes stacking teams easier - sorry my sarcastic comment of the day.
I dont know about other gyms but our locations dont share athletes very often. It is rare. They are very far apart and it would be really hard because of the demanding practice schedules.

It all depends on what the purpose the athletes are being used for. If it is a specialty than the athlete probably would not need to practice with the team's regular schedule. This is especially true if you have been around the game for a long time and are at a higher level. It would be expected that you would catch on quick. It is a common practice.

Ya, not much here:)

I honestly didn't know Cali had that many locations. I thought they had 3. Granted, I don't really watch much of them so I wouldn't know.

I think it depends on gym philosophy, type of acquisition, etc. Definitions of success vary so much between these programs, that it seems like apples to oranges to compare them. If you're looking at consistency at all nationals, then one gym might come across as more successful. If you're looking at the progression of athletes from one level to the next, you're looking at something different. What are the goals of each team in each gym? Is the goal to push them to the bigger teams? Is it winning as much as possible at each level? Is it to get them learning as many new skills each season as is reasonable?

There was that whole thread about definitions of success. You can't realistically compare multiple gyms whose goals are so different.

I will make this comment about ACE since my daughter is at the one in Birmingham. From what I have seen in the 4 years we have been there, is when a new location is opened or bought out, Happy generally takes coaches that have coached for ACE for a while, who know his rules and expectations and relocates them to the new location. I know at least one coach at every gym location because at some point they were at the Birmingham location. If I were to move anywhere an ACE gym is, I would be 100% confident that it is being run the same way the Birmingham gym is run. Sometimes is takes a while for any new coaching staff, coaching staff he has chosen to keep, and the kids and their parents to get used to his rules and expectations but once this happens the consistency generally falls in place. We absolutely love ACE and adore Happy!!

I feel like one of the reasons CEAs other locations dont have a strong level 5 team is because a lot of the athletes want to be on the kville or raleigh level 5 teams. I know of many athletes on kville or raleigh level 5 that are closer to other cea locations but travel farther to be on the level 5 teams. Just my thought on it, there are obviously other factors too as to why ceas locations are really inconsistant.

My old gym, Spirit Allstars in CT recently opened another gym in CT and also merged with another gym in CT, they seem to have pretty consistant teams with our only level 5 team being at the home gym in Hamden. Though they do have divisions overlapping, I think that they are pretty consistant.

I agree that definition of "success" I believe differs from program to program. There are so many different reasons to have different locations that to criticize one or another just doesn't make sense. Does every McDonald's make the same amount of money? No. Do they even have the same menu? No. The menu adjusts based on client and culture. I think there is no way to directly replicate an original but if the service is in need for whatever reason and customers are happy then I personally consider that a success.

To expect CEA to replicate SE at every location is unrealistic, or ACE to replicate Warriors etc. etc. BUT can they take their product and place it front of different audiences and have their "success" ABSOLUTELY!

I know this is a touchy subject, but there is more to cheerleading than ONLY winning Worlds.
