All-Star Multi-location Gym Consistency

I think to an outsider, CEA looks inconsistent, but if they only had 1 location it would probably look the same. (i absolutely promise that was not a dig - more so just the gym's philosophy about moving kids up as fast as possible and choosing to compete at levels that may not meet the team's current skill level. )

At Cali, having strong lower level teams is obviously a priority. At CEA, getting kids to their highest level possible is a priority. different strokes for different folks.

(and I think I just publicly stood up for CEA twice in the same week. even I'm confused :p)

i do agree that gyms should be consistent in coaching techniques, etc. but i think we're forgetting how hard that would really be. I think this is especially the case if a gym is taking over a gym that is going out of business. In those cases, 9 times out of 10 they will have majority of the same athletes, and a lot of the coaches are offered a position in the new gym. So when this happens, basically the ONLY thing that changes is the name. Also if CEA Kernersville has CSP as head coach, it will obviously be different in the other gyms where she is not the head coach (which is understandable).

I actually think it would be pretty easy. For example when Cali took over NEA all of the coaches remained the same but had to learn how to coach the "Cali way" at a coaches seminar that every coach from each location attended. Not only the named changed but the style and technique had to change with it. We always get visits from Tannaz and other coaches to make sure all teams (1-5) look their best and remain consistent with the gyms in California. Just because the Sr 4 coach in San Marcos isn't in the Vegas gym doesn't mean that one team shouldn't be just as competitive as the other. If that's so maybe that isn't the right level for that team.

There is 1 gym I know of that is not listed above that has multiple locations and its main and first location gets the most attention and is the strongest. The other locations are not as strong but the other location sends people in to do damage control. The main location goes to the best competitions and is stronger for sure.

This is exactly what differentiates Cali from other programs I've been with. The fact that the original program owners are still looking over the other 'franchises' to make sure that the gym is running under the things they value as important. The biggest issues that NCE Livermore and San Jose had was the original program (San Jose) had no idea what the administration was doing in Livermore until they got wind of it from parents when they decided to end the merger. When Cali came in to help out the Livermore gym because they needed another gym to hold onto. Cali and San Jose discussed why Livermore and San Jose split the original Livermore owners and the main coach were removed from the program and Cali made sure that things remained the same as all of their other programs. And I must say I really do respect Cali for this level of consistency

Stingrays for sure. All our teams are amazing.

But since cali has 5 gyms or so id say them.

I know it's not in the states but I'd have to say that throughout all our Cheer Sport Sharks gyms Ali and Alana spend time with every team throughout the whole program a few times a year and we send coaches back and forth b/w all 3 locations as well. And they focus on success for all levels 1-6. It's not a secret that the worlds teams and level 5/6 teams are at the main gym in cambridge but that's also because that's the main facility. We have a LOT of talent b/w all 3 locations and if we are all at the same competition we are very successful at those competitions equally. There aren't many teams that are in the same division, but there are a few and when that happens most of the time it's cheer sport in 1st and 2nd...not all the time..but so far this year that was the case when we had a good chunk of the teams from all 3 locations.

It will be crazy to see provincials in less than a month since ALL teams from all 3 locations are going to be competing. So that's 48 teams between all 3 gyms :) Ottawa (my gym) is the newest but we've obvs had changes and meetings and skill builds etc so that all our coaching and focus for athletes is the same at each gym no matter what level!
