I’m a second-year JV coach. Last year, our Varsity team got new uniforms that didn’t fit well and started falling apart. I even contacted the company on the Varsity coach’s behalf, but she never followed up.
This year, with a new AD, my Varsity coach and I started designing new uniforms in case we got approval. She made it seem like she was going to ask for both Varsity and JV uniforms. She also knew exactly how bad my uniforms are — three years old, seams splitting, stains, missing gems, skirts riding up, and the attached shorts underneath being almost skin-colored, which has caused complaints from both players and parents. All 20 uniforms are in poor condition.
While I was still gathering a few more quotes to present to the AD, she went to him for approval. Since she’s the head of our program, I didn’t think she would leave me completely out of the conversation — but she did. The AD approved Varsity’s new uniforms (even though theirs are only a year old) and didn’t realize JV needed them too. By the time I followed up, it was too late — she beat me to the punch.
I’ve sent the AD 63 photos of the damage and asked for advice. I’m frustrated — it feels like Varsity’s needs were prioritized, even though my players’ uniforms are in far worse shape.
What would you do in my situation?

Are there any updates from your AD?

Not the desired solution, but at this point I would:
1) Get a few bars of Fels Naptha or Zote soap and have a uniform scrub/cleaning party.
2) Solicit the team parents and see if anyone has access and experience to a sewing machine. The loose stitching shown is actually an easy fix for someone with basic skills.
3) Purchase, or ask around to see if anyone has an inexpensive hot fix wand kit with crystals and reapply them where needed. There are several YouTube videos showing how to use a hot fix wand.
4) I would email the AD and let them know what steps you took to make an effort to make these uniforms look presentable, and wearable, for this season. With that said, I would be emailing them with pictures of any fit issues from wear after doing the above, as well as, at the end of the season with any new issues. Make your case this season without involving the Varsity coach.

Good luck!
