I am looking at different ways of getting our new gym known around the area to increase enrolments. We have a large number of students already, but really hoping to continue developing the programs and introducing new teams.

Any advice on ways of doing publicity for a new gym?

Make a Facebook page and have some open tumbling events! Have members hand out fliers and set up some class discounts for people who bring the fliers back in!

Pin flyers all over in local libraries, community centers, activity centers, etc. Make sure you het to surrounding cities, too. People are willing to travel a long way to cheer.

Make an online flyer and post it on Facebook and have people "share" the picture. Have the online flyer be the coaches/Facebook like page for the gym.

Have a little cheer camp where people can learn the basics, maybe include a pizza lunch on the last day or something.

You can have a "bring a friend day" practice where everyone can bring a friend and whoever brings the most friends can get a free prize or free bow or something!

Really focus on making your existing teams fantastic and choose your competition schedule wisely. Do some exhibitions in the area (I.e. we open and close our towns collegiate summer baseball league every season with an exhibition of stunting and tumbling and there averages about 3000 per game that are local families). Because the quality of your teams is your best advertisement. You can post video, get people talking and catch others attention at competitions. Make a positive name for yourself early and build on it and your enrollment will grow on its own from your own people's word of mouth.

Some of these will require slightly more effort. One of the biggest places to tap into is Rec/School Cheerleading. Here are some great ways to get to these kids:

-Offer summer camps. This could be a week long day camp where cheerleaders sign up individually. Send out fliers to local neighborhoods and rec coaches. During the day do crafts, stunts, tumbling, and jumps. Learn a little routine to present to parents at the end of the week. At the end of the camp give each kid a certificate and a flier that says something along the lines of "Did you have fun at camp this week? So and So Allstars offers full year teams....."

-Offer team tumbling/stunting classes for schools and rec. Send flyers to coaches and get them to bring their entire team in together. Hand out similar fliers to those mentioned above

-Offer half year teams. This is a HUGE way to get new students. Wait until football season is over and then send out ads to everyone in the area about your half year teams. Offer them at a lower price to bring people in. Do a few smaller events and maybe one larger national. At the end of the season, many of them will sign up to do full year. We have very few kids who just do fall team every year, most like it so much they want to cheer

Hello,

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. How do the half year teams work? We don't really have anything like that out here in Australia at the moment!

Half teams are typically formed after the fall semester of school (anywhere from November to January/early February-ish), as that is when high school cheerleaders are finished with football season. The lower level teams compete at smaller competitions usually and don't travel as far as the full year teams, so it is a cheaper alternative to allstar cheer for families that aren't sure about committing to a full year team yet. Higher level, senior half year teams are typically in states where athletes are not allowed to cheer for their high school and an allstar team at the same time, so as soon as their high school season is over, those kids are in the gym and try to get as far as they can for the rest of the season.

Contact TLC or Brava or VH1 etc... and pitch a reality show! Seriously I am joking...no really I am. :wasntme:

OH but my problem is, I am not crazy enough for that. I don't scream and make students cry. So probably wouldn't be entertaining tv!
