So is this the end of crops for all senior teams? Or could non-worlds senior teams keep crops? When we first started in tiny cheer my daughter wore a crop. Things have certainly changed!

So IASF Worlds is different from the USASF Worlds and the ICU Worlds? Why are there so many Worlds now?!?! When are they all happening?!?!

So my understanding for all of this:
IASF Worlds is like USASF Worlds but for the new divisions that arose this season that split the international open teams into either Open and International Open? Plus the non tumbling divisions? And it sounds the 2021 full top rule is only going to apply to these teams?
USASF Worlds is still “the main Worlds,” so to say, and at this moment the incoming rule does not apply to them.
ICU Worlds is the wannabe yearly Olympics of cheer where countries compete and is its own beast separate of IASF and USASF?

But there’s a misogynistic stench increasing in cheer and it stinks. If you doubt me, I’ll remind you of that “No inverted baskets for college AG because their dainty little girl arms can’t possibly do what the men can do” rule.

Quick sidetrack from the original thread topic... Sorry. BUT, I was not a fan of that rule to begin with and I side-eye it even more because these baskets are still allowed in STUNT which is all girl. So you have teams that compete UCA or NCA (CBU, OK State, Davenport, Sac State, Alma, etc.) who are still doing these baskets for STUNT. So I guess the rule is in place to separate sideline/comp cheer from STUNT but the male vs female aspect is garbage because they’re still expecting the same female athletes to do the tosses that are banned at traditional comps, just in a different setting.

It’s so gross. And every male ex-college cheerleader I’ve discussed this rule with says the same thing: “It’s stupid. The girls always threw better (read: safer) baskets because they’d trained their whole lives for it. The guys were usually just barrel-chested first-timers who could toss and catch, but didn’t really know what the hell they were doing beyond that until they were taught at their first cheer practice. In college.”

And if “safety” is the concern, that’s a problem.

STUNT is following the same rules as UCA/NCA. It’s twisting AND flipping tosses that require males. Ex: tuck X out - legal; Tuck X twist - illegal.

I never realized that. Huh. How are they going to fit all these new divisions in the same time period??
But to actually talk about uniforms now that my worlds are no longer mixed up, I’m not sure how I feel about it. I understand wanting to make the sport look more athletic since it’s trying to gain Olympic status, but I think a rule trying to stop some of the crazy looking uniforms might be more effective. I mean OO5 is competing in suspenders and backpacks and I’m pretty sure a full top rule will not result in TG wearing a clean, athletic uniform the rule is probably hoping for.

There doesn't seem to be a significantly larger number of teams compared to previous years, teams did more of a shift to different divisions. But they can always split the Arena like they do for all the other comps there if they need to.

I'm also wondering if USASF will follow and require full tops as well. If not, teams like OO5 could switch to the USASF division and continue wearing crops. Which I believe over the next few years we will start seeing more Int'l 5 teams switch over anyway.

ETA: if ACL injuries (for women) are the issue, then take out tumbling. Hell, if we’re so prone to injury, how can they responsibly let us do anything at all? That’s the slippery slope this logic leads us to.

IASF split off from USASF in 2016. The international divisions have been solely under them since then.
