I went reading through the wiki for abbreviations here on the fierceboard because...well, don't ask me how I got there because I have no clue. Anyway, I happened to look through and couldn't help but think- Who USES these? Some are for teams/gyms I never see mentioned here, or for variations of terms I never see. Wut iz this?

Back at school and I already want it to be Thanksgiving break..

so i will officially, officially be returning to school full time for my doctorate in january (yay!:cheering:) so now... when do i tell my job? obviously 2 weeks is suggested, but i feel like i should tell them sooner.. but then i don't want to tell them too soon and make them basically treat me terribly because i'm leaving.. part of me just doesn't want to work the month of December because i have so much to do and organize since it's a pretty big move for me, but there are so many projects and things coming up that i'm supposed to do for work in december. ugh sometimes i wish i wasn't so considerate... my brain really has already checked out of work though, like i'm just so over it so i'm probably not even benefitting them at this point. even though i don't want to be there i know i'll end up making my last day mid-december. like the friday before the week of christmas. but when do y'all suggest i tell them? now? before thanksgiving? after thanksgiving? ahhh being an adult is hard.

It's actually "twelve year-old". The "year" and "old" is hyphenated. #grammarNaziFromBirth

First of all, congratulations! Secondly, when do you want to work and receive a paycheck until? There is always the chance that once you give notice, they will tell you they do not need the notice and let you go then, reducing the amount of time you anticipated having left as a paid employee.

OK you really had me thinking I had been doing this wrong for about 30 years. This was making me crazy so I looked it up. According to Grammarly, that Purdue OWL thing (my Bible when it comes to grammar for writing for school), and Chicago Style Guide, it's twelve-year-old.
Hyphenate if it's an adjective before a noun (as in "a twelve-year-old boy") and not if it's after ("the boy is twelve years old"). And hyphenate if it's a noun ("a twelve-year-old was annoying me"). A few sources also say you shouldn't spell out the word "twelve" and should use the number itself ("12-year-old), but I doubt your teacher was looking for that.
(***I write a TON for school right now, so I have these sites saved for constant resource. They've been a life saver for me for writing paper upon paper at midnight.)

I just wrote my first draft for the teaser pilot for the webseries I'm writing (not the one I'm in right now, I'm writing my own). I'M SO EXCITED. I've been putting off getting it down because I'm a lazy bum..but I finally got my first draft done and I feel so good!
