Off Topic
I move to a new apartment tomorrow morning and I have so much to do. So of course I'm laying on the couch eating Chipotle and watching The Newsroom.

I always find that the more I have to do in a shorter amount of time, the longer I procrastinate. You're making me hungry though. I wish Chipotle delivered.

Off topic but my dad owns Lifetouch

You can't go off topic in the random thread :P but that's cool that your dad owns it! Its always so cool the people who pop up on Fierceboard. I still cringe when I hear the word Lifetouch. Too many bad school picture memories lol.

It's funny that we are talking about senior pictures, as I took mine on this day last year (thnx Timehop).

I did the drape, an outfit and my cheer pictures. I ended up redoing the drape picture, which goes in the year book.

i think the whole elaborate photoshoot trend that i see now is semi-ridiculous. i get having a few portraits done for a milestone, but i've seen girls have 6+ separate shoots for their one senior photo. crazy and probably so expensive.

i believe jostens did them for us. my school scheduled us in the summer between junior and senior year. we had to do the black gown with a rose/tux formal shot, a cap and gown shot, and then we were free to do whatever casual shots you wanted. people brought in their pets and instruments, etc. etc. and you had freedom to go to the football/soccer/baseball fields or tennis court or band room whatever if you wanted a more custom shot. it was free you you just paid for whatever shots you chose to purchase, if any. the photoshoots look fun, but i'm glad it wasn't a thing when i was in high school. i feel like its just one more thing to "compete" with.

@njallday that trend is huge in the Charlotte area right now. Wardrobe check days, pre-hair and pre-makeup check days, stylists, multiple locations with "themes" (urban girl, country girl, day in Paris...). Yikes! Hope it dies down before my daughter is a senior as that year is already expensive enough.

Yes we do. It's tradition. Not many people here get senior pictures done, not everyone has the money for it. But I will still be getting normal senior pictures done.... If I can ever decide between fall or spring to get them done in

My son just had his senior yearbook picture taken yesterday in the fake tux in the studio. We have to wait until the football field is finished being redone to have the professional shots taken.

BTW, what in the heck happened to your nose? Is it broken?

I cracked it catching a flyer in the pyramid haha. With a little bit of a concussion and my nose has been swollen shut.

I got an A in my public speaking class though! Still waiting on my psych grade, but I think I did well!
Love Newsroom!

My kids' highschool lets seniors submit any pic they want for the yearbook as long as it meets a few guidelines. One senior had a cell phone selfie as his pic last year. Typically seniors will do photo sessions. We hired a new graduate to do one for our senior for $200 (it included a photo disk and a wardrobe change). He didn't even submit a pic, though, he just used the pic the school took.

6 separate shoots? That must be so expensive if the pricing is similar to how it is here. Like there's a policy that you have to buy at least $500 of prints/products or just fork over that much. Crazy! I'm taking a few in the studio, going to the football field for cheer ones, and then some in just a pretty, naturey area. They're mostly for my pic in the yearbook, a senior ad, and grad party invites, but other than that it's for my mom. She bought and displayed so many of my sister's pics.... Our living room looked like a shrine to her. My mom is super into it and thinks she knows all now that she's done it once. She knows all the stuff she wants to buy.
There's no wardrobe check, hair practice, makeup practice that goes on in my experience. We had one consultation with the photographer to discuss locations and ideas, but that's it until the actual shoot, and then after that we have the "reveal" aka ordering session. It's not super elaborate with themes and such... Just pick some cute outfits and go.

I doubt anyone went out an posed on train tracks and what not when I graduated

Teryn didn't do them when she graduated last year. Doubt she even mentioned it.

You just were in the wrong part of the country! I'm around your age and I was going to school in the Midwest when I was an exchange student - train track pictures were the deal back then.

And since everyone had senior pictures taken there were no official school pictures (aside from the whole class) because everyone had a senior picture in the yearbook.

There are photogs in our area that will still do that.

"What, you don't even go here!"

Right part of the country you mean. I'm not photogenic. Senior pictures would have been a huge drama, filled ordeal for me.

In our yearbook we had senior pictures (with the black drape), a baby picture, senior quote (I quoted Janet Jackson) and then you listed your clubs and sports.

My sister graduated last year and I think they still use the same format

Oh and I don't mean people weren't doing it in other parts of the nation. I meant at my particular high school. @cheerKT and I graduated from the same high school (at different times) so it was a Flora statement....not a broad across the nation statement.. (which is why I used my sister's first name, since she knows her)

We just have normal panels like every other grade for seniors, other than them being able to submit their photo. No baby picture, quote, list of extra curriculars. Maybe that's why it's a bigger deal here. Your parents can buy you an ad, which usually has a baby picture, a senior picture, and a little note (or whatever they submit). It's expensive though... $45 for 1/8 page and so on. We've thought about doing senior quotes but always decided against it.

We had that as well! In addition to our baby pictures in the front. It was pretty cute having the baby picture side by side with your senior picture. Something special for the seniors, I guess.
