Republicans actually want to make it so that if someone on the watchlist went to buy a gun, there'd be a waiting period while it was further investigated. Then the Attorney General (I believe) would request that the person could not buy a gun if the FBI said there was reason to suspect them. A judge would decide the outcome.
There are a lot of people on the watchlist who have done nothing wrong. You don't have to be convicted of any crime, or even necessarily be suspected. A lot of people are on there in a guilt by association way, and they have no terroristic leanings.
I agree that terrorists should have guns - but we can't let one list determine if you're a terrorist. We are still America and we do have due process.
Trust me, even the gun owners and Republicans I know do not want terrorists to have guns.
I'm a huge Democrat, and I have to say I agree with Republicans on this one. If you haven't been convicted of a crime, your right to certain American freedoms (not just talking about guns here) shouldn't be taken away automatically with no due process at all.
