Opening A Gym

Hi Everyone,
I am going into college next year for business management in order to fulfill my goal of opening my own allstar cheerleading gym after graduating. Am I going for the right major if this is what I want to do with my life? Also should I minor in anything? Can all gym owners post their experiences on opening a gym. List anything and everything you can talk about. Positives and negatives!

Either Business Mgt or Acct and a minor in Athletic Training or sports mgt.

I plan to Major in a program called Sport Leadership (not every school has it), but it's essentially a degree in coaching. You take classes on instruction and business

I got my undergrad in Exercise Science and my masters in Sport Administration. This was great because it was a management degree but with a focus in athletics. It has been really helpful. If I had any advice to give though it would be to just get a plain management degree. You will always use it, and it won't limit you to the sports industry (which is crazy and cut throat).

You really need to get involved in the money side of things. A lot of gyms fail due to poor money management. I would suggest some sort of Finance or Accounting as a minor.
