When the changes came out, does anyone remember it saying the cut off was may 31. Did the change it again?

It needs to be May 31st. August 31st is the worst cut off EVER! The little kids who are born in the summer get bumped up before they are ready and the kids who would like to cheer an extra year are not eligible. It only cuts off the people born in the summer I dont understand why the USASF would discriminate against the summer birthdays.

Trust me, those "little girls" are not upset that they get to move up an age division with their peers who are in the same grade. The only people hurt by the 8/31 cut off is super seniors.

The August date was set to better coincide with the school cut offs so that kids in the same grade would be in same age division as each other. (of course many states don't have September school cut offs so it is still not a perfect date, but definitely better than May)

It's a far stretch to say that USASF is trying to discriminate against certain birthdays.

The same claim of "discrimination" (btw- first time I've ever actually heard it put that way) could be made for any other season given a shift in the date. It makes perfect sense to coincide with the school cut off date.

My daughter has been on j5 with a handful of kids she has been cheering with since mini one...all were going to move up to senior 5 except 2 even though they were all in the same grade....totally did not make sense...they would have been crushed..so glad they kept the August 31st date. If you can be in the same grade you should be able to be on the same cheer team IMO.

My birthday is in SUMMER..I can NEVER claim to be discriminated against. Ever. I can have a pool party/a luau/a bowling party/an ice skating party in an indoor rink...I have ALL the options of every season PLUS some (and I'm in CT). Summer birthday's have zero right to complain unless you're in college and half your friends move out on your birthday (like mine have)..then, a small amount of whining may suffice.

But seriously, I think August 31st is great. The whole point was to cut down on the super-senior thing, and I think it did that. Do a few people suffer? Yeah. Not as many as before though, I'd wager.

Personally, I'd like to see it moved to Nov 1. That would coincide with school cutoffs in my state, as well as sort of coinciding with the actual "start" of the competitive season

I had a final almost every year on my birthday in college (May 6th) and NO ONE ever wanted to go out with me for mine.
The one year i saw Stick It with a friend and ate dinner at my apartment. So glad thats over.
