being where cheer extreme is the majority are conservative republicans so it would be shocking if parents were not complaining

I don't think they should do this since it might upset some parents about politics and there cheer gym being associated (to cea parents)

Yeah, I don't get why they are performing there? And like how did they get involved with it? It just seems like the most random thing to perform at a political convention.

Just my personal opinion...
I think it is inappropriate to bring a group of high school(and some middle school?) aged girls to anything politic-related. Not to mention the parents, I guarantee there are several republican supportive parents.
Not a good decision, I hope most of the kids don't go.

If any other gym got asked to perform at something so large they would probably jump at the chance. No matter the political alignment of the parents.
As a PR major I would suspect it's probably a PR move and an effort to recruit new members. If the offer was extended, I can't exactly blame them.

The convention is being held in NC in downtown Charlotte. The organizer of the entertainment for those in attendance wanted to showcase NC athletes/performers who have been recognized nationally/internationally. I understand Charlotte is home to the world champion clogging team, we're honored to represent our state along with them as a current world champion for cheer.
