All-Star Speed This Up...

It seems like she could pretty easily connect the skills. Maybe if you give her counts to do each part of her tumbling so she knows she can't leave her hands up? From the video it seems like she lands her frontwalkover on 3,4 so have her hands down for a roundoff on 5. If she starts to realize what time she should actually be doing things she will start to speed up.

That's great thinking!! Thanks!!

Btw, I have loved every persons feedback- y'all are amazing!!!:)

She is young. Practice practice practice ...Start with the front walk over , she is leaning backwards when she lands that would make it hard on anyone to flow into the next skill. You dont want to be jack of all trades , master of none....Have her master one skill before tying it into another. Time , practice and maturity. She will be great.Time is on her side.

have her fix her arms in the back handspring step out! when she's stepping out you can see she's bring them in front of her to turn instead of keeping them up by her head for the round off. it makes the transition easier/cleaner & it makes a difference:)

This pass is clearly too difficult for her right now. That may be what her pass should be at the end of the season, but for now she needs to focus on only one part and perfect that.

At our gym, we only let the kids throw specialty passes that end in two strong bhs. So if the child cannot do ro two strong ro bhs then they do not throw a specialty pass yet. They can be working on a front walkover and a step out but it does not go into the routine until the pass ends in two nice bhs.

@Kris10boo I adore Jaylen!! She is slow and choppy now but everyones advice is right on the money. Work the strength, the timing (giving her the counts of when her hands should be down, etc) and just really perfecting her technique will get her speed up.
I'm impressed with her ability coming from tinys. That's a super hard pass for her!! I def wouldn't put it onstage YET but I have a feeling she'll get it perfected by comp time. Go Jaylen!
Keep us posted on the pass!

Yes she has picked up a lot just from being on tiny's last season. She is one of 4 girls (as of now) that has an actual specialty pass besides a round off 2 BHS. She loves it- they told her already her front walkover was out until she can speed it up and connect it better. This video was taken 1.5 months ago so the pass is slightly better.. And I mean slightly. This was the only video I had of her with the team. We have a few months so we still have time; she cried when she got in the car the day they took the FWO out and that has already got way better so she will get that back. I just don't want to see her upset when the whole thing gets changed if she can't fix it! So I figure we will just keep working on it and see!! I will say we haven't really worked on team tumbling since we got the routine 2 months ago because they are really working on cleaning everything up.. Opening, jumps, stunts. So I believe they will be spending more time on this soon so that should help.

She is also about to get back into a tumbling class. Her flexibility class was during the tumbling class I wanted but now they moved that up 1hr so I'm going to put her back in tumbling now that we have time for that class too!

Haha sorry this was so long and yes I will keep y'all posted wether it gets pulled or she fixes it:) and if she does you know I will have a video!!

Thanks again to everyone I love how honest and helpful y'all are!!

Yay!! Sounds like you're moving right along. I can't wait to see her do it fierce!

And the great thing about a specialty pass is being able to mix it up. I try to string them together that best fits the athletes strengths. I bet Jaylen can play around with the same skills in different orders and show her coaches. I love to see my girls expirement with variations of the same thing!

I recognize CCE!

Miss that place. Tiff and Shandy will keep working with her and I am sure if she keeps working she will get it.

Yes, I finally will be able to put her in Shandy's tumbling class for the first time! I'm so excited I feel like he is a lot tougher but it will be great for her!
He used to coach me when I was like 8 or 9 at a place called United Cheer down in Nashville so I know first hand how he is:)!

& Not like I didn't already know but Coach Tiff already told me how amazing your daughter was just from what she came their with and left their with in a short period of time!!

In about 1.5 hours I'll be uploading a new video with her doing her tumbling pass! It's better I think but I just want to show y'all since y'all have been so helpful. It is a little quicker if I do say so myself. Still needs work but long as I see improvement I'm happy.

Here is the newer video, she still has a long way to go but it is a little faster! As always I appreciate any input thanks everyone:)

She's def moving faster and connecting better. Keep it up Jaylen! Work on blocking through your shoulders for a better spring off your hands. It's coming along very nicely!
