Hi there. I'm trying to start an Allstar team but there are is a young champions team and another all star team in my town. I do not want to be apart of either of those teams as they do not have good sportsmanship. If anybody has any advice that would be amazing :)

Just curious to know why you don't like young champions? I'm currently interviewing for a coaching position there and I had never heard of them so just trying to get some info on them.

It's not the program itself. YC is a great program it's just the coaches around here do not want to work together at all. They are so rude and disrespectful... Telling their members not to associate with the other teams and accusing each other of "stealing" there girls. It's ridiculous.

The only other squad is Alpena Spirit Explosion, I think? Starting an all-star team is difficult, if you can make it work to join one of these two gyms I would recommend it. Your simplest solution if you can't join either of those gyms would be to talk to someone like Wildcat Cheer Pride, CCM, or another bigger gym in Michigan and see if they have any interest in forming a new gym in Alpena that you could help them grow.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with young champions. I coach for them in west michigan. Some coaches can be that way but I promise we're not all like that! I work very hard to teach good sportsmanship, even to my little ones. What area were you in for that bad experience?

Hello Everyone,

I am the Coach for Alpena Spirit Explosion and this forum was brought to my attention by a parent of a cheerleader on my team. First, I would like to say that I have never had a conversation with jtoland93 and I think it is sad that he would come here and say that teams do not have good sportsmanship without at least trying to work together first. We just attended Nationals in Chicago, Il and out of 28 teams our team was chosen for the Spirit Award, so I think jtoland93 is talking out of turn. I also know for a fact that the information that he is receiving is extremely one sided. He has never come to our gym to find out facts for himself, nor to see if any of the information that he received was even close to the truth. The two coaches from the other 2 allstar teams do not get along, however I am not involved in any of it. I also know the coach from the Young Champions team and have never had a problem with them. They are quite pleasant to work with. I feel bad that jtoland93 feels the need to make an assumption based on what someone else has told him. I have a fantastic team that consists of 15. 15 is the limit I set because I feel that more would just turn the team into a business and that is not what my program is all about. I would welcome jtoland93 to stop by and talk with me, maybe then he would be capable of forming his own opinion. Thank you BrettMiddleton for your suggestion as that would be the mature way to handle this.

Jtoland93, Alpena Spirit Explosion has never said anything negative about you or your aligence to another team, I am deeply offended that you would refer to us as "rude and disrespectful" I would advise that if you are looking to start a new team that you learn how to conduct yourself as a professional first.

Thank you
