You know I really got to thinking about all this crossover controversy and wondering...are there other sports (or non sports) out there that have any sort of crossover rules? I mean, heck, look at the Olympics...If USA wants to put Michael Phelps on the 4x200 Medley relay AND the 4x200 Free relay...it's totally allowable. Sure having someone with so much crazy talent on BOTH teams is going to mean the "little guys" who don't have the deep talent pool the USA does, stand a much tougher chance of winning either the Medley or Free relay...but that's the way it is. Not everybody gets a trophy (or Olympic gold) in life and some people get more than one!
And as far as "crossing down"... If that Olympic relay team all were members of the same college team or club team, they could totally compete at that level and likely blow away their competition! It's allowable! Would it be as prestigious of a victory to them (having won Olympic gold already)? I would doubt it...but they could still do it and set some pretty amazing records too!
Just playing devil's advocate on this topic. As a parent I have allowed my CP to cross over some seasons and others I have said "no" (primarily for concern about overuse injuries and/or life balance). I know this is a hot topic in the cheer world and I totally understand where the frustration comes from on both sides of the issue.
