It has to be a Cashier's Check or Money Order, but doesn't stipulate anything other than that. They just want a deposit. Balance has to be paid in full by April 10.

Like others have questioned earlier: what about the divisions that have only one or two teams? Will they "just give bids away" to teams that are in those divisions just to ensure some competition? Or will those teams just win if no other teams are added? Or will they combine divisions (which I would see as unfair)?

For my daughters' team, we divided the deposit between each athlete.

LEVEL 1: tiny, mini, youth, junior, senior (5 total)
LEVEL 2: mini, youth, junior, senior (4 total)
LEVEL 3: youth, junior, senior, senior coed (4 total)
LEVEL 4: youth, junior, senior, senior coed (4 total)
LEVEL 4.2: senior (1 total)
LEVEL 5: youth, junior, junior coed, senior restricted (4 total)
=22 total
So large and small in each of these divisions: 22*2= 44 total divisions
525/44= 11.93
So assuming 100% of teams accepted their bids (which won't happen)... There would be an average of almost 12 teams in a division. Of course some divisions will have much more and some will have much less.

Like CheerBank had said... it seems they are going for original Final Destination sort of deal. The first few years of Final Dest. and when it first became U.S. Finals were great. I competed in divisions of 35 teams (give or take). But when they see a money oppurtunity, they take it. Same with worlds. Teams that are barely Level 5 get bids because they went to a competition with very few other Level 5 teams. I am glad the Summit is being so picky... it means those kids really are the best of the best.
The only thing I would change would be to offer more paid bids to teams farther away. Yes, I know there's a concentration of teams in Florida and the South but for them it's a lot less expensive to drive to Orlando than it is for a Northern team to fly there. More teams up North would consider going if there were more oppurtunities to go and earn Paid bids. I'm not saying Southern teams shouldn't earn them, but right now it seems most Northern teams have to fly South to earn the bid and then fly south again to compete there.

Paid bids still are costly per family! You are getting 3 day hopper pass and a bed (quad) occupancy at the lovely (not) All Star Resort. For me to go and be a chaperone with 3 girls in my room I still need to pay ... and it's a lot considering I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels and would expect a lot more for my money.
Then airfare for my cp and myself and all of the other incidentals that occur while away like food etc.
My guess is Mickey gave Varsity a great deal at the All Star as a thank you for all the business they bring and these " paid Bids" are not costing Varsity a great deal.

Our gym is attending 2 competitions offering summit bids. We are in Florida already so I am hoping we get a bid and get a chance to go.

A: Yes. Unlike the USASF Worlds, we do not have substitution policies in place.

But is there any limit at all for the number of athletes on a team for which substitutes could be used? If not, that could get rather interesting.

Can a team that won a full paid bid for the Summit as a large Jr. 2 enter the comp as a large Jr. 3 instead? Do you have to register for The Summit in the same division for which you won your paid bid?

My understanding is that there is no limit.
