I'm curious, does anyone know the criteria used when selecting which teams receive paid bids versus at large bids ? And, does the criteria vary based upon the competition awarding it ? Also, if a team has been awarded a paid bid and turned it down, does that preclude them from receiving any future offers of a paid bid at other events ?
We were told (and this is in regards to Spirit Cheer only, not sure about the other EP's) that they they have a set number of bids per division/category to hand out across all of their nationals. Once all of their set number of Youth 1's are handed out, they are gone for the rest of their upcoming events.
We called and talked to someone after the Nationals in Washington because some of the teams that recieved bids seemed pretty random when compared to other divisions in that level. We found out that certain divisions were already "out" for that EP. I totally understand why they are doing this but it was disappointment to find out that some of our teams didn't even have a chance just because they didn't have anymore bids for the division they were in.
