If a team wins a bid with 10 crossovers then what do they do.The rule can't be just at the Summit and NCA or it will never work.

NCA is arguably the most elite and coveted competition outside of Worlds and this rule works for them. There is no reason why other EPs can't institute the same rule. Plus there is a difference when athletes crossover in the same level, where the issue lies is when athletes crossover to lower level teams. There are several gyms who are not able to take all of their teams to NCA due to the crossover rule and they survive and still thrive.

Yes it is considered sandbagging when higher level athletes compete on lower level teams, regardless of the competition. But unlike NCA, which has set rules in place to curtail this practice, winners of competitions that allow sandbagging, like The Summit, will never be taken seriously and teams that participate in this practice will never have legitimate bragging rights to these "elite" competitions.

So you're basically saying NCA and Worlds are the only competitions that should be taken seriously and worth attending? You should suggest that to your gym owner, you'd have the cheapest competition fees in town!

There has been an entire thread on this very subject and there has been numerous topics on "credentialling" athletes to try to eliminate sandbagging. Trust me, I am not alone in my opinion on this subject.

Okay question:
Does anyone know if they will open it to Mini's next year? I went to the web site and can see which comps will have bids for 2014. I know they were holding off to see how first year went - but would love to see at least mini 2 added next year. (yeah I know wait till it is over - but trying to figure out some choices for one of my CPs). If you are going to run a Youth 1 doesn't seem right to not run a mini 2 as many of those girls have been competing longer and have higher skills than most y1s. The only time our team really went against other teams was at NCA. For gyms that like to keep kids age grouped and have the CPs to run a Mini 2 it is frustrating.

it IS very prestigious...my small senior 3 "FRENZY" at Cheerforce just attended palm springs for Spirit Sports and out of OVER 50 teams competing in the level 3 division (small coeds large coeds all girls and all ages: youth, jr, senior) we were blessed with 2 strong back to back performances and won the 1 FULL PAID bid they were giving to all those teams. It feel likes worlds to the kids and it was a beautiful thing to witness. I like this whole "Summit" comp! Makes our lower levels strive to be stronger!

Well sandbagging is very possible there was a team in my division small senior coed 4 that had a whole new tryout just for summit we competed against them at cheersport and they won for summit not one of the same boys was on that team and they received last place and we got first! So sandbagging doesn't always help my team was together the whole season!

Even though there are 100 more bids for the summit than worlds. In the summit there is MANY more age groups and more levels (5 if you count restricted.) than Worlds. So you definately have to be on your game at a comp to qualify!!

as well you should be, it may be a lot harder to get a summit bid than it is for some other competitions however that is the point. They want the cream of the crop. I would personally say it'd be worth it to myself & my team to travel to the summit qualifiers (regardless of how long I have to sit in a car) because I want the opportunity to crown my team as the best of the best.....that's just me though & not every competition is gonna be for everyone & if to your team it's not worth it or not possible that's more than alright, every team is different.

They are allowed to compete on a team they haven't competed on before so basically any level 5 Senior can compete on a level 2-4 team as long as they meet the age requirement....some teams may "stack" their team with higher level cheerleaders for a lower level team. Senior 5 kids can compete on their gym's senior 2 team if they want. Or Junior team if of age. I certainly hope there is not a lot of sandbagging but there are no rules against it. We are using our original team, less one girl who was gone at the end of the season.

Coaches should know the rule in the beginning of the season so they don't end up placing crossovers

I was wondering about that....!!! Our team was mostly 10-11 year olds (primarily 5th graders) who are still youth age now like m y CP...and had been together since Minis....I wonder if I can guess which teams lol

Yes....the Y3 division.....plus - there was not a Y5 division at the Summit

Why on earth would @Diamondlifex2 dislike my post from almost 7 months ago now when I was replying that I was talking about how my Y3 team had 10/11 yr olds on it and wasn't stacked and someone asked if the other poster if she was talking about y3? I answered yes Y3 and got a dislike??? For answering a question? LOL It's my first dislike and that is like putting a dislike when someone answers what level team their cp cheers on. Huh????
