I'm a bad poster and haven't read every page (yet-just got home from practice) but I want to point out one thing. I believe USASF is often trying to help the small gym, but the 10+ rule for seniors really hurts small gyms. There are gyms around here that only have one team, and stick everyone on it. For them, this means having no team now. There are tons of small gyms that will be forced to turn kids away (either too old or too young).
This could really impact our gym next year... I agree I don't want a team of 18 year olds with 8 year olds, but in our case we planned on taking our junior 3 up to senior 3. At one point this season, they competed senior 3 and beat out 6 teams, so they can hang. We will have one girl that ages up to senior. This year we had two girls that even made it juniors, and the rest could have been youth. Do we cut the senior girl? Because realistically, we have to cut a lot of these kids that are young if it's going senior. I don't think people realize how much this really impacts small gyms that barely have senior aged teams.
