All-Star Usasf Major Changes

I'm confused because people are prematurely rejoicing over the word "review" and mixing it up with "revoke." There is a possibility that theyll revisit their original decision just to appease everyone and end up not changing a single thing.

If they do, however, revoke what seems like decisions that have been in the making for a long time, I'm not sure how I'll feel about that either. On the one hand thousands of coaches and athletes will rejoice, but on the other, it will make the Usasf look like a bunch of wusses when theyre supposed to be our fearless leader!

Regardless of how I feel about this, the Usasf has put a lot of thought into these decisions and for them to back down this easily would send an awful message. I'm all for democracy and having a voice, but I also want leaders who have the best interests of their people in mind and stand by what they think is right.

I honestly don't know what is right because I see it from both sides....ahhhhh!

Well let me make it easy for you..any company who spent "a lot of thought into these decisions" and had the audacity to single males out for essentially being "too gay" w/their motions and expressions, but allow females to "shimmy" to their hearts content are not "fearless leaders". They're cowards and bigots...and they SHOULD back down from this bc it sends an AWFUL message to begin with!! ESPECIALLY in light of the recent suicides within the cheer community in such a short period of time!! Do they really want to be held responsible for making some young boy feel like the "fearless leaders" in this industry think he's "too gay" to cheer and kill himself?!!! Absolute BS

They already look like a bunch of wusses, not fearless leaders!

I really wish that BlueCat was allowed to talk about his personal views on these rules, especially the tumbling. It sucks not getting his input and ideas!

wow.... I haven't had my two cups of coffee yet but did I read correctly that the EPs referenced by USASF as a major reason for the rule changes were actually not consulted and did not provide any input?

I almost understand the other rules, or at least the thought process behind them, but this one is so out of the blue to me... I was hoping for tiny to go to 6 and under, or even a mini change to 9 and under.

All of the board members agree when they become a part of the group to not discuss the details of the meetings and discussions. It is not specific to this particular issue - it is true of all b.o.d. discussions, votes, and opinions. (That is pretty standard operating procedure for this type of group.)

Even voicing their personal opinion on the matter would be unprofessional - particularly if that individual did not vote with the majority and did not agree with the final decision.

You read it right. It certainly appears that the groundswell of backlash has really gotten the USASF's to wake up. With less than a month until Worlds this is not the type of publicity they wanted to receive.
There is power in numbers and it looks like we have their full attention now.

Are there minutes of the board meetings? If so, where are these available?

I have opinions on what people wear, but I don't care :) , except for the wardrobe malfunctions, no teenage girl should ever be exposed on stage in front of hundreds of people. I bet if they made a huge deduction for wardrobe malfunctions, coaches would take care to make sure the uniforms they have designed stay in place during the performance!

most of them aren't really in allstar anymore thought to my knowledge

Stepping out on a limb here... Perhaps the EP's were upset because they were having difficulty/can't afford insurance for their events, because they can't guarantee the quality of the execution of the skills on the floor due to there being no real certification for the coaches of the athletes on the floor, and a theoretical increase in the frequency/severity of injuries due to said coaches and their lack of, well, coaching ability. Therefore the EP's came together and said "this is our problem, and until we can get this (coach credentialing) fixed, this (scale back tumbling) is what the insurers want to see. Again, I have NO knowledge that this happened, this is NOT heresay, this is just an idea tossed out there based on a lot of what I have read.
