Should a program be penalized for allowing a girl to enter a venue in pajamas? Shouldn't it be the parent's responsibility to make sure their child doesn't look like they just rolled out of bed? Will instances of inclement weather be taken into account when caught wearing "trendy boots"? Will the sneaker makers be held accountable to create a more durable sneaker that can be worn outside and not fall apart? And as long as Big Brother is breathing down our necks, can I suggest a rule be added where cheerleaders are restricted from carrying their cellphones in the waist of their skirts/shorts? That drives me NUTS!

Only we got hit with the bottom age limit, I now have to figure out how to divide a team of 13 into 2 teams. While I'm not against it small gyms will hurt from some of these rules too

When you say small gyms I see those with 200-225 or fewer athletes not just USASF's definition of a small gym. I see this as working heavily in the favor of larger gyms where there are enough athletes to work around most rules that are put in place.

Side note - I'm scared for Saturday when all these newbies are allowed in the all star section to start this all over again...

i wish we could implement extended periods of newbie-ism at times like this. and like, worlds weekend, for example ;) i only have so much patience.

I know that I mentioned it at the beginning of the thread and it got a few shimmies, but I really want others to give their opinion on it:

If they refuse to budge and add the tumbling back to level 5, do you think they should add it to level 6 in order to make the difference in the two levels greater then just stunts(baskets and pryamids)? I know that many have argued in the past to add double backs in level 6 to create a difference, but if standing fulls and such are no longer allowed in level 5 should they then add it to level 6?

I can see good and bad to this. If they add it to level 6 then more gyms that have that talent will try to put together a level 6 routine when they can't do the stunts and stuff safely, but then again it will add a bigger difference in the two levels that people have been wanting for a while.

I'm personally in a small gym according to their definition we probably have around 30 all-stars, but I don't limit it to effecting "small gyms" I see it effecting gyms with under 200 maybe even more if they have a certain distribution of kids. If the new ages stick I'm going to wish we hadn't just had team placements last week:(

I am really offended that you think that "newbies" are such a pain in your a***. Guess not everyone is entitled to an opinion on a matter that effects us all...hhhhmmmm wonder if that cames off sounding a bit like the USASF Board not taking anyone elses opinoin into consideration.

Seriously, though, it's like whoever wrote these rules wasn't paying attention. I think they can claim "safety" and "image" all they want, but it doesn't hold any water.

The Board must not have felt so strongly that there was such an urgent need for change as they said they did... considering that with some backlash they've taken it all down.

If they had good, solid, respectable reasons for all these changes, then they would be supporting those decisions, not taking down their documents. This doesn't sit right with me.

There is a major difference between being here and lurking, and joining just to come and complain and start drama. Not all newbies are drama, and many contribute great discussion. If you've been here, you know how drama gets started very easily with people that aren't familiar with the boards.

This is what I predict for Saturday, and I hope I'm wrong: "LIKE OMG I'M QUITTING! This is CrAZy!!! usasf is the worst, lik totally HITLER!"

I want discussion, and I want ideas on how to make it better or fix the problem, not drama.

This really isn't a thread where arguments need to be started, but I have to say if history proves to repeat itself then yes some of the newbies are a pain in the butt. Not bcause their opinions don't matter but because they don't read through a thread before throwing out crazy things or starting yet another thread about a topic that already has a good 5 threads made about it. A good example is if you look at the first page in the all star section right now, is there really a need for that many threads about the same topic (rule changes)? Probably not.
