When I do my back handspring, I somehow jump off of one foot at a time, resulting in a slight kick. Does anyone have any tips to get rid of this?

Get up on a trampoline with your coach and try a bouncing back handspring...feet together, arms up by the ears, and bounce through your ankles and toes. Your body should be in a handstand position throughout the entire skill. Good Luck!

Put something soft between your ankles like a bit of foam from the pit or a ball etc. Try to do the backhandspring concentrating only on squeezing your legs together to keep that foam exactly where it started. Moving your legs apart will make it fly out as you bhs. It'll teach muscle memory and eventually squeezing your legs together should come naturally.

Ask your coach to spot you as it'll feel weird at first and your bhs is likely to be a bit janky, just concentrate on squeezing your legs together for now and don't worry about how pretty the actual bhs is until you've got this down.
