I came from university cheer last year and I joined an allstar team this year as I wanted to challenge myself and learn new skills and gain new experiences. It was starting fine at the beginning I got to try new level skills. However, as we started forming the routine, I have not been participating as much in the routine. They have kept changing our spots and stunt groups and formations as we have one more than one coach on the team this caused new changes. The last year team I felt more supported and happy as the environment was suitable for me the teammates were all students and the coach was awesome. This team I have been patient and trying to give it chance, but so far it has been more frustrating than uplifting. I have chatted with the coach, I understand their competition strategy but theres no promise that the situation will change, unfortunately due to one of my bases cant compete, their pov of forming stunt groups, Im new to them so they only put people they know in it, I have been removed from two stunts sessions, even the stunt in jumps has been removed due to timing. I want to be able to improve and progress and involve more but it’s difficult when the opportunity has gotten taken away. Most trainings I have been standing around and only stunt the bare minimum. The allstar fee is expensive i feel like it’s wasting money if its not getting worth. Apart from that, im not feeling connected with this team, as a flyer, I have been dropped to the ground directly where they didnt even attempt to catch me a few times, this is also coming from a couple of my “closest” teammates. They dropped me from an extension, a prep.. Im trusting my teammates but it’s breaking my trust with the safety concern as well. The coach knew and told them thats not ok. I feel so lucky i did not any serious injury, just minor strain, and Im proud I still kept going with the end dance even after the stunt fall at a fullout. Despite I felt embarrassed that my previous university coach was there watching pretty sure she saw that and she was looking at me after. I was staying tight and still and squeezing hard in the air though we hit that for 1-2 second before I hit the ground. I still love cheer itself, and I still wanna accomplish things, still in the hope I can stunt more within the season, but Im not so sure. When I look at the university competitive teams training with my previous coach it looked way more fun and organised. I miss that. I dont regret exploring with the allstar team I was so excited trying something new. I can handle intense and toughness and challenges but i wonder if this team right here is right for me at all. I was thinking to quit after this first competition this year and take a break. What should I do? Should I stick it out with this team or should I pause and return next year to the university team if I can?

The simple answer is, noone can answer this for you. I am going to make the assumption your season began late April to mid May 2025, and if I'm wrong, please correct me. Going with the assumption your season began 2-5 weeks ago, I think your expectations are slightly high for the time frame.

Some AS insight for you that may or may not help:
1) Stunt movement and changes within a stunt group are normal early in the season.
2) Changes within the routine will continue throughout the year.
3) Injuries, or other individual circumstances, can require changes that may affect you.
4) Coaches constantly monitor athletes strengths, skills, stamina, and work ethic. Things will change accordingly.
5) Athletes not in a stunt group will often ask other stunt groups to let them get in a couple of reps before and/or after practice.
6) AS will require more effort to form friendships. There are exceptions, but generally, there are no dining hall, frat parties, sororities, dorms, or sports bringing you together.

If you haven't had a team bonding event, perhaps throw the idea out and see if people are interested. To me, it sounds like you're missing your college team and regret is now setting in. Whether you choose to enjoy AS, or not, the choice is ultimately a decision only you can make.

Thanks for replying. The season actually started in January. I joined in the end of January/start of February. So it has been several months. I thought it was fine until march. I do miss my uni team.
