I just want to know how Midnight won when both BSB and Midnight got the same score while both teams hitting 0. I'm not even salty, just genuinely curious. Did they flip a coin, or rock, paper, scissors?

I usually get home from work about 4:30CT, hoping I can leave a few minutes early so I can be home and ready in time to catch BSB.

I've had 6 patients cancel or no-show today, crazy high number. It's like they all knew I needed to keep up with Worlds.

Didn’t expect Stars winning but so happy they did! Is their daughter/granddaughter getting close to aging out?

Sad for SE. Wish they could have brought yesterday’s perfection again!

Super happy for all of the Lady Lux kids. The NT division has given worlds hope to a lot of talented kids, that probably never thought they would get a chance at worlds bc of tumbling.

There are two different tie breaker policies floating around. For one, the team that was scored/placed higher by more judges wins. In the World’s Registration packet it says they look @ deductions first, then total stunt/pyramid score sheet and tumbling/jump scores. If still a tie then step 3 is to total technique only scores ( none that are included in did/tech combos) if still a tie then step 4 is a panel reviews and decided. It isn’t made incredibly clear which numbers they use. But... if you add pyramid/stint and then tumbling:jumps scores , ( excluding bldg creativity and Tosses) then Midnight is ahead.

Aren't the judges suppose to leave a gap at the top just in case the teams that come after actually do better? In this case they didn't, but what if they did and they clearly can't go beyond the 10.0 scale? They need to figure this comparative scoring out...

why does worlds not have spotters day 1 but then have them for day 2? That doesn't make sense why they only have them for one day

Saying the scores don't carry over is the same as saying the scores don't count. Day 1 counts for determining the 10 best Finalists. Then the scores are wiped clean. Competing later in the order can help you not get lost in the shuffle if you don't stand out or if the judges need to save room for the better teams who compete after you, but there isn't supposed to be some built-in scoring boost just because you competed later. Whether CJA went first or last, I feel strongly they were the best ones in XS today. And in a competition where the rules say Finals scores count 100%, they should have won.

How many Day 1 performances can the judges really even remember while they're judging Day 2? Finals is supposed to count 100%, and you're supposed to judge what you see on the floor. Bombshells could have given the identical performance and would have scored significantly higher just by competing late instead of early. That doesn't really sit right with me. All judged sports have issues like this, but they address them instead of just accepting them as normal like we seem to do in cheerleading.

If they want to factor in the performances of both days, then the most objective way to do that would be to have scores carry over to some extent.

Oh TRUST me, the gymnastics community has been trying to get this addressed for FOREVER NOW.

I don't know how many times an event finals-worthy gymnast has been gypped out of qualifying for a event finals, BECAUSE they competed in an earlier subdivision. Mind you, gymnastics qualification periods can extend up to 2 full days!!

And just like in cheer, there is ALWAYS an upward trend in execution (thank goodness at least difficulty scores are set point blank) scores. How can judges truly look at themselves in the mirror and tell themselves, "Yes, I judged the gymnasts in subdivision 1 YESTERDAY morning as fairly as I judged the gymnasts in subdivision 9 that just went tonight."

As long as humans continue to be the judges, this problem will ALWAYS exist, always. At least F.I.G. is trying to minimise this by computerising certain execution judging decisions, e.g. Men's Still Rings now have a system in place that actually measures the angle of a strength position and how long it is being held (no more judges counting, "1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi" etc.). I wish they do away with comparative scoring. Skills need to have point values.

I actually don’t mind comparative scoring, but USASF and IASF needs to re-evaluate how they score the execution component.

I should be seeing a wider range between teams that have amazing execution vs. teams that have atrocious execution. The distinction needs to be made; spinning balls of death should score MORE than 1-2 points down against beautiful laid-out twists, this also given the scale is over a 10!!

Wasn’t there a CA athlete who cheered on jags in 2006 and competed in every worlds after that until like 2017? I thought she had enough rings for 2 and a half hands.

That is Ambrel, she has 6 golds, but I believe 13 medals.
