Worlds Scoring

I'm new to this whole thing and noticed people talking about deductions and stuff, so I was wondering how yesterday's scores affect today's rankings? I'd assumed that they'd be completely new scores, but from reading people's posts it seems like the deductions carry over?

Thanks! I got confused because people were talking about SE being down by 7 points on day 1 and coming back to win - that doesn't make any sense to me if every day is a new day, haha.

The only thing it does is determine performance order. The only other thing is people are trying to look at raw score to say "if everything hits perfect, who wins"?
